Hello everyone. Please I need clarity on something. I was recently auto-enrolled into a pension by the agency I work with. I received a letter saying that I will contribute, my employer will contribute and the government will contribute/ give me 20% tax relief. Please and Please, does this count as public funds? Because it's not by force to do pension. I wrote to them seeking clarity on the matter but they asked me to seek independent views on what counts as public funds for my right to work etc. I will be grateful for any comprehensive explanation please, so I know what I should do next.

Pension tax relief doesn't constitute public funds for immigration purposes.
Rest easy.

Government has decided that things like pension and maternity pay and the list below are not public funds... they even want to force everyone to do pension

Many years ago i was moving in to a new place with a friend, they visited just as we are moving things including TV and asked if we have TV licence we said no that we don't watch live tv them left, few months late we received the usual letter and my friend panicked and wanted us to pay(He was an illegal immigrants but i don't know at that time) , i knew very little about tv licence issue then as i was about 6months old student.

We started paying £10 a month even as i hardly watch tv let a lone live one because i work night and study day. Then i tuned in to a late night talkSports radio program one night and their was an hour long discussion on tv licence, i got educated and the rest is history.

Hmmmm.
These ones are threatening to get a search warrant to come and turn the house upside down in search of TV; meanwhile, I just arranged 1 conspicuous cinema screen.

One mind is saying “pay” , another is saying “don’t pay, nothing go sup”

Yes I did after a few hours but they simply confirmed what the school had told me already that council does not have any contribution to the subsidy and if school claims it's free for all, I should go ahead.

And if I'm still unsure, I should approach the school for further clarification.

I will suggest you ask the school for further clarification and not take the words of the council for it. The 30hrs funding is from the government not the council as you're told.

Steer very well clear of public funds . As far as UK.gov is concerned, schools are only completely free when a child reaches the compulsory school age irrespective of immigration status .

Revolut confirms cyberattack exposed personal data of tens of thousands of users
Carly Page
@carlypage_ / 1:44 PM GMT+1•September 20, 2022

Fintech startup Revolut has confirmed it was hit by a highly targeted cyberattack that allowed hackers to access the personal details of tens of thousands of customers.

Revolut spokesperson Michael Bodansky told TechCrunch that an “unauthorized third party obtained access to the details of a small percentage (0.16%) of our customers for a short period of time.” Revolut discovered the malicious access late on September 10 and isolated the attack by the following morning.

“We immediately identified and isolated the attack to effectively limit its impact and have contacted those customers affected,” Bodansky said. “Customers who have not received an email have not been impacted.”

Revolut, which has a banking license in Lithuania, wouldn’t say exactly how many customers were affected. Its website says the company has approximately 20 million customers; 0.16% would translate to about 32,000 customers. However, according to Revolut’s breach disclosure to the authorities in Lithuania, first spotted by Bleeping Computer, the company says 50,150 customers were impacted by the breach, including 20,687 customers in the European Economic Area and 379 Lithuanian citizens.

Revolut also declined to say what types of data were accessed but told TechCrunch that no funds were accessed or stolen in the incident. In a message sent to affected customers posted to Reddit, the company said that “no card details, PINs or passwords were accessed.” However, the breach disclosure states that hackers likely accessed partial card payment data, along with customers’ names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.

The disclosure states that the threat actor used social engineering methods to gain access to the Revolut database, which typically involves persuading an employee to hand over sensitive information such as their password. This has become a popular tactic in recent attacks against a number of well-known companies, including Twilio, Mailchimp and Okta.

But Revolut warned that the breach appears to have triggered a phishing campaign, and urged customers to be careful when receiving any communication regarding the breach. The startup advised customers that it will not call or send SMS messages asking for login data or access codes.

As a precaution, Revolut has also formed a dedicated team tasked with monitoring customer accounts to make sure that both money and data are safe.

“We take incidents such as these incredibly seriously, and we would like to sincerely apologize to any customers who have been affected by this incident as the safety of our customers and their data is our top priority at Revolut,” Bodansky added.

Last year Revolut raised $800 million in fresh capital, valuing the startup at more than $33 billion.

Take note of the bolded paragraph and exercise due caution as there will be an upsurge in phishing attempts arising from the breach and the attendant unauthorized access to customers' personal data.

Also do well to immediately change all your related login details if you haven't yet done so.

Yeah, I figured I wa speaking to the Admissions officer in the council and I have now emailed a separate team in charge of the 30 hours scheme to clarify. I will update with their response.
They responded and confirmed I don’t need to pay any additional funding and it is fine to access the full time nursery.

I included my email and their response below. I referred them to their website too like you did to make things clearer.

Hopefully this clarifies it and I will just keep the email for future ref.

I got my tier 2 visa about 1 months ago after switching from a student visa, including my son, my partner couldn't apply with me due to her passport being expired, she has gotten a new visa now and I am currently applying for her as a dependant, what Is making me concerned now is that she is being asked to provide proof of maintenance fund either by her or my own employer..
My number 1 question is like how much can she hold into her account for the submission.

£285 for your partner
£315 for one child
£200 for each additional child

Waoo. You mean the closing balance for the statement she will submit should not be less than £285,which would be her maintenance fee

Yes. They know you're already working and earning a reasonable salary, and that the partner can work full time too, since you're on a tier 2, so there's less concern about upkeep like with student visa.

Having a TV doesn't mean you have to pay the TV license. You pay that if you watch the government channels like BBC and co. If you only use it for gaming, Netflix etc, there's no obligation to pay. Don't mind all those letters they send with threats - they are mass mailers they use to bully people who get scared easily into paying.

The issues will arise if you have a aerial or other broadcast-receiving equipment connected, but even that is not definite proof because technically, you can watch some channels on a catch-up basis without needing a license.

In summary, if you know you don't watch TV, make sure you don't have an aerial connected and if they come allow them in to see.

Those sections of your post i highlighted

You don't pay tv licence because you watched BBC, you pay tv licence if you watch live program from any channel on any device not just on tv alone.

This got little or nothing to do with aerial connected to your tv
