what was the goal?

Ukraine has a land area of 603500 Square Kilometres. This is biggest country in Europe excluding Russia. Almost all the regions in Ukraine are developed. There are urban areas in every region in Ukraine. In small cities like Mariupol, there are countless number of high rise buildings.

Iraq has a land area 437,367 sq. km half of which is desert. The two developed cities are Baghdad and Mosul. As a matter of fact, the two cities have few urban areas.

The more developed a country is, the more difficult it will be to defeat it's ground troops in a war. To conquer a well developed city, you need to fight for every building. You clean up a building and move to the next one. This is a very difficult task. You need huge amount of ground troops because you will likely loose a lots of soldiers. But surprisingly, the Chenchens did a fantastic job in Mariupol. This is what the Russians are facing in Ukraine. Fighting in the middle East, that is less developed to fighting in Europe is not the same. The US ground troops in Iraq were fond of calling for fighter jet support any time they face stiff resistance in the desert. You can't do this in an urban area, where you have a lots of high rise buildings and your enemy is equipped with thousands of Anti-tank & Anti-aircraft weapon. Your ground troops must up to the task.

Before the war. Most people, especially the Western analysis (even Zelensky himself) believed that Russia will not invade despite the warning from the US. The reason is simple. They knew that the troops amassed at the border by Russia was just to small for any kind of invasion. They were surprised when Russia invaded.

The less than 250k troops even punched above their weight in Ukraine. They did more than expected. People needs to know that there are engineers, doctors, cooks e.t.c that make up 1/3 of the less than 250k troops that Russia deployed to Ukraine.

I believe, when the war is over. We shall hear the real truth from the Western media. They will tell us how good the Russians are. Let us give it time. The truth will come out.

Russia managed to lose their flagship against a nation without a navy. That's indeed impressive. I can see why you would think they are stronger than the US.

You don't need a Navy to sink a ship. All you need is capable anti-ship missile that has the range and can be fired from land or air.

This might be a strategy war, I don't think Russia had a real intention to destroy Ukraine. Putin just want to prevent them from joining NATO and take some of their territories.

You don't threaten a man not to be friends with your enemy. Instead, you show him love and make him your friend. Invading Ukraine has only strenghtend their resolve to join NATO. Before this year ends Sweden and Finland would be joining and these are countries sharing a common boundary with Russia.

You have not been following. For Russia war has not started yet oh.. This is just SMO. And it's working super fine. They are liberating the south east of Ukraine. How would you expect Russia to do? Ukraine is a country with minimal military(virtually nonexistent). Russia on the other hand has been heavily militarized over centuries. Ukraine had next to no weapons unlike Russia with billions of dollar of weapons and huge defence budgets. Ukraine is clearly not a country Russia should be boasting about overcoming irrespective of the impromptu support and aid they are getting.
