Benue Governor Samuel Ortom has said report he has broken political ties with Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike is false and misleading.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday shortly after presiding over the Benue North-West Senatorial district PDP caucus meeting at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, Ortom insisted he stands with Wike on the injustices meted out on him. According to him: “The report is misleading. I just came back from London this morning with Wike and I still maintain my stand on what I said. I have not moved away from there.

“I still sympathize with Wike for the injustices meted out on him and our group.” The Governor added: “The party leadership has not been fair to Governor Wike based on the activities that took place during the convention and after the convention. “They have not been able to adequately deploy the internal conflict resolution mechanism of the party to resolve those issues. “I still sympathise and stand with Wike and let the leadership of the party at the national level do the right thing. It is not too late to do so.

“Politics is about interest and where your interest is not protected, you have the right to protest. “We remain committed to the PDP but still want the right thing to be done, so that everybody will be carried along.” While noting that it is not late to resolve the issues, Ortom further pointed out that with the interface he had with the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party, he hopes that issues will be properly addressed.

“The issue in contention about the national Chairman, the BOT, was here some few days ago and we deliberated on the matter. They sought to know what my feeling was about the crisis and I told them the truth as far I am concerned. “I gave them my recommendations and I hope that justice will be done so that our party will gain its position to take over power in 2023,” he said.

The Governor maintained that despite the crisis rocking the party at the national level, Benue does not have any problem, stressing that “from bottom to top, we are good to go, as far as our party is concerned. I am working for our candidates.”

Ortom insisted that he cannot work against PDP but he will support every candidate, emphasising “that does not mean I am not aggrieved, Wike is aggrieved and I am aggrieved too.”

On the outcome of the caucus meeting, the Governor said after due consultations, a Benue North-West Senatorial campaign team for the Senate seat will be constituted, pointing out that it will be integrated into the main campaign council of PDP in Benue State.

He will not leave the PDP, he has accepted the presidential candidate and is ready to support him but the right thing must be done.

Baba no even try to turn this amala because receipt dey everywhere. You were busy "bebe-scouting" without doing your home work, only to find out that all Wike is getting for all his tantrums is sympathy!

After all the noise, threatening Atiku and PDP with Rivers vote, meetings for London, meeting with Jagaban, na ordinary sympathy the man dey get from the allies you have been making noise about. Even Queen Eliza's family have not enjoyed the level of sympathy!

At the end of the day, Ortom will canvass for the PDP candidate irrespective of what happens. When campaign starts, Ortom will be present when Atiku takes his campaign to Benue state, that is as clear as day light.

And did you say Ortom will be present when Atiku takes his campaign to Benue state?

Go and find out what happened in 2019 when a lot of Governors where publicly supporting Atiku while negotiating with Buhari behind him

All these APC states? Does PDP have any structure in those states? Do they have HOA members in the state? Who is in charge of that structure? That is the question you should be answering.

The same people who can mobilise support for PDP in those states are the people you are dismissing as irrelevant.

Goodluck to Atiku. Like I said earlier my prayer is for him to ignore Wike to kill any hope he has of winning.

Apart from my Landlord who is supporting and will be voting Tinubu, I have never seen any other person in this Rivers state saying he's voting another person not Obi. And trust me, I have lost count the number of people I've asked. Radio stations even conduct polls from time to time and na Obi Obi dey full everywhere.

However, I know that in rural areas especially with non educated voters, they can easily be swayed amd influenced to vote PDP.

With the governor withdrawing his support, Atiku can kiss Rivers State good bye.

Still can’t forget how Orji Uzor Kalu is a free man today not because he didn’t use SLOK to launder money, but because of the mistake of the prosecution team that acceded to a judge that has been promoted to deliver the judgement .
