Meliforme:I agree with you wholeheartedly, imagine Fulham youth team flogging these overhyped bunch of either FAILED and or retired POOR quality players. Liverpool bought has both two of there teenage academy products for a combined cost of near £11 million. Paying £3 million for a 16 year old. Both are regulars in the EPL. Years ago Fulham had so many Nigerian youth player use to call them the Nigerians. Timmy Abraham is still there. |

komekn:Facts only. Gbam!! Feedback these days suggest that the education standards that developed the Nigerians you have described have dropped catastrophically in the last 15-20 years. The result is a huge reduction in educated and informed Nigerians in Nigeria. |

To be very honest, this thread has really changed. Probably the reason some monikers are no more regular here again. There was a time some top figures in Nigeria football do grace the thread occasionally. I, personally have learnt a lot from civil football discussions and arguments on this thread. By this time, we should be nominating committee members for our end of the year Nairaland football award yet we're engaging in an unnecessary argument with an adulterated kid who has refused to grow up. I mean, we all agreed to 'jump and pass'. Let's go back to football abeg. |

As for the onyeka argument, what if he had moved into the 'centre position' (according to our super analyst) in an attempt to block the shot and ended up deflecting the ball into our net or block the goalkeeper's view rather and Uzoho went the wrong way. SMH |

From the Gospel according to Kome. I had to go really check how poorly paid Nwakali is, meehn dude goes home with $2.5mil/annum. From $183k in Huesca. The club really value him. He is not poorly paid in my opinion. But I know if he sustains the tempo, maybe by winter transfer, more joy fit dey come his way. Na so life be.

As soon you spot Ronaldo, Messi, Modric, Kroos, Silva, etc doing what they do, you are excited. One can only conclude that poor management and the coach are to blame for Nigeria's top stars quitting the country early. My point is that Mikel, Enyeama and V. Moses retirement still saddens me. Who knows who is next, maybe Ndidi ![]() |

I should name games I have seen at random where Late tackles in the box on players have been called for penalties? Wow. So you don't watch football anymore I take it. ![]() So you are deliberatelty being ignorant of late tackle calls being common both outside and inside the box. We have several cases. I'll do you one better... I will not name but show you a few. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-15SFxDCC4 GK late tackle in the box leading to a pen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CftmfG_xouI Another GK Late tackle in the box... First action in the clip. Xhaka late tackle on Son.... result. Penalty as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTKdNIk4TJ0 There is even one of Ashley Cole on Chicharito back in 2011 with Manchester Utd leading 3-1 already. In this instance, the penalty was WEIRDLY not given even though a card was shown to Ashley Cole. It was the wrong call. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13Dm5CLVc18 In football, a late tackle foul is called once a player clatters into or makes contact with the opposing player after he has kicked the ball be it in the box or outside the box. Penalties will normally be given when a player makes late bad contact with an opponent after he (the opponent) has kicked or passed the ball inside the box. In a nutshell, making late bad contact with an opposition player and not the ball inside the box is always normally gonna result in a penalty. You have your examples above. Satisfied?? Or you want me to name the referees that made the calls as well... SMH. BascoVanVeli: |

Chukwueze back in training with Villarreal after withdrawing from Nigeria's September games Samuel Chukwueze is back in training with La Liga outfit Villarreal ahead of their upcoming game against Cadiz, allnigeriasoccer.com reports. The 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup-winning winger withdrew from the Nigeria squad for their friendlies with the Algerian national teams, citing injury. In truth, Chukwueze had been struggling with a minor muscle-related problem prior to the international break and it was best for him to pull out of the Super Eagles squad in order not to aggravate the injury. The Super Eagles star participated in full training during Wednesday's workout at Ciutat Esportiva de Miralcamp, under the guidance of manager Unai Emery, which puts him in contention to be involved in some capacity against Cadiz on October 1. This season, Chukwueze has been given minutes in every single game played by Villarreal, ten in total, starting half of the matches. The 23-year-old has had a brilliant start to the 2022-2023 season with five goal involvements (2 goals, 3 assists ) in ten all-competition appearances. After six games in the Spanish top flight, the Yellow Submarine occupy sixth place with eleven points accumulated. |

Amedino99:You are actually correct. I wanted to mention this yesterday when I shared these screenshot angles BELOW explaining Onyeka's poor positioning for the second goal but just didn't find the chance or it just slipped my mind. Same way, the screenshots showed Simon was the closest to the ball and not Iwobi and I mentioned that to correct that initial notion on Iwobi being closest. Maybe I went in too hard on Uzoho for not doing better and he should have done better for that goal if he got his footing/positioning right but yes, his view was partially impeded as he saw the incoming shot late (see him in 2nd and 3rd shots looking as if he didn't know what was coming). Uzoho's view was partially covered by Akpoguma and Bassey meters in front of him. But still... I am not totally exonerating him for his failure to have done better. If Okoye could be stoned for the howler at the Afcon (his view was also kinda partially impeded but the shot came right at him) then Uzoho shouldn't be spared. I have always rated Uzoho higher than Okoye but all is fair to flog both just as same. Uzoho needs to get back his match sharpness and high sense of anticipation and he can only do this by fighting hard to get his playing time sorted at Omonia. His bench situation isn't helping him at all. A sharper Uzoho will position okay in Anticipation for a strike coming from that zone outside the box, with shooter likely attacking, with his strike, the only space left wide open as Bassey and Akpoguma had the other spaces covered from Atal's point of view.... and... .... If only Onyeka had stepped into that very space instead of his silly ball watching. Seeing these shots again really dey vex me abeg. A Midfielder playing defensive on the day as the team's CDM and has poor positioning awareness. Can't even cover the goalmouth space to his central side. Appalling but we move.

Amedino99:Sorry, this is a bad take. A goalkeeper do not have the field of view to himself. People will always stand in front of him. If Uzoho was any good, he should have positioned himself to see that ball coming all the way from China. But guess what, he didn't position himself well, his foot work was very poor, he couldn't sort his feet out to take a dive. The boy is not a national team material simple and short. |
