Anambra State government to Commence Perimeter Fencing of Eke Awka Market

The state commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, made this known today after taking a walk round the ever busy market in a company of TC chairman of Awka South, Hon. Thankgod Anagor and the chairman of the market, Ozor Jude Agummadu, popularly known as Baby Awka.

According the commissioner, the parameter fencing will help to ward off the street traders along the onitsha old road which passes through the market so as to reduce the gridlock that has become a usual occurrence along the market area of the road.

Earlier in their interaction with the commissioner, the TC chairman and the market leader, explained that from their years of observations of activities in the market, especially as it regards street trading, only demarcation of the tarred road from the market can eliminate the illegal street trading along the road which causes congestion in the area.

Moving arround awka is very difficult with eke awka congestion and the amawbia police station road blocked.
