I'm planning on furthering my studies abroad, ASUU have really shown me pepper. I've been following all your post very closely. From your experience, if you were to give a suggestion on countries to look out for pertaining to getting a Bsc in Europe, which ones would you recommend and why ?

And also I'm making my research here too, I just need external contribution advice wise. Thanks.

How much do you have?

SeeSee, leaving Nigeria is not hard, if you meet the qualifications and have money. Sometimes I wonder why people use agents, which makes you even spend more and make mistakes. Since agents are after money.

Right from when I first apply for a visa to leave Nigeria, I've never used agents. I always mail the embassy and they always respond. Then I follow their advice.

So if you're going as a student for example, then typically you must have proof of your admission, pay school fees, rent accommodation, submit educational qualifications, your international passport, passport photograph, thumb print, etc.

Embassies have requirements for every visa category, and you just have to fulfill that category and apply. You don't have to fast and pray, getting a visa is not a miracle, it's about if you fulfil the requirements or not. It's a certainty.

Back to my first question, how much you do have? And also, feel free to email embassy directly and ask question. Few days ago, I got a visa for my parents to visit me from an EU embassy and they paid nothing, not even visa fee.

No agent, no middle men, they just went there and got it within ten days. Simply because I emailed the embassy and they advise how I should apply.

When you've gotten your passport, increased your funds and ready to start, mention me. But try change your 4M to hard currencies, to preserve it from deprecating.

Bro it's not about money. Go off that mindset. Money only helps you facilitate the visa/residence category that you've already qualified for.

So for example if you have an admission somewhere, then money will help you pay tuition fees, book flights, act as bank statement, pay visa fees, insurance, accommodation etc. Money is a facilitator, NOT the qualification.

There are millionaires in every corners of third world countries, who can't get residency elsewhere with their money. So instead of ask the country 6M can take you to, determine which category of visa you'll qualify for.

Alright. Let me rephrase the question.

I want a country where an 19yo who is just starting out life can start out and achieve his dreams. He doesn't mind any country, but I am considering my pocket while trying to get him the best in the sense of obtaining citizenship of that country.

I want something for him, that in the end, he will be glad and forever will remember me in his life (note I know it is out of control). I want something I will do for him and be satisfied because I am doing it like I will do to myself.

Is it OK I pm you?

Good to see how this thread was created in 2018 and still waxing stronger till date. I have learnt alot from Ibrahim aka zlatan and many others who have contributed to this thread. I have a simple question to ask, currently I was able to secure a job in one of the Schengen countries, but can't apply because their embassy does not Grant appointment currently, so I was advised to go through the tourist route, to either Belgium or France and on getting there, I will have to report to the company that gave me the employment and will be given a resident permit thereafter. Pls house I want to know how viable is this route?
thanks do have a blessed day.
Note: the job is legit and my sister over there worked it out for me. I have the contract letter and all necessary documents.

Mr Panso, God bless you for your insights here. Some questions here please, my brother has only WAEC, 24 years old, intact international passport, about 2.5 million naira, and this dire urge to want to travel. I suggested Finland.

Is he fit to go there - work and study? Can you please drop the embassy link you always mail and your template to getting the best information from them?

Thanks a lot. Please reply, abeg.

2.5M is too small. It will not do anything.

Always convert your naira to euros/USD, to have a better perspective of its value. 2.5M is roughly 3.400 USD, its basically nothing, unless he gets a scholarship, that will cover the tuition fee.

If you have plans to leave Nigeria, then you must know one very dark fact. Which is, wasting time is your enemy. For example, ten years ago, the number of countries Nigerians could visit visa-free reduces by 30%, who knows what ten years more hold?

Currently, only Ecowas countries a Nigerian passport can visit mostly, not even our southern and northern neighbors like South Africa and Morocco.

Also, the currency will keep depreciating, and your hard earn naira will keep becoming less valuable. As a consequence, countries will tighten their borders, and only the exceptionally wealthy ones will be able to leave.

It's already happening, but it will get very worse, it's the nature of things. As the earth rotates around the sun, things either get worse or better, there is no stagnancy in reality.

My advice would be to look for scholarships online. And also increase that amount you have, and keep changing them to dollars, to preserve its value. Don't save it in Naira.

So you must understand the game you are playing, which is a race against time. That's how you win. Nobody will tell you the rules, you have to figure it out yourself.

Yes, you can. That's a very good amount.

From the second week of January next year, all schools will open for September 2024 admission intake, apply to the cheapest schools. If that time reaches, mention me, and let's walk through the process here.

Lots of schools offer a 50 percent tuition discount for students that pay on time, so you might end up paying about 4k euros in tuition, even better if you get a scholarship, which they easily give out.

Alternatively, countries like Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania are sure bankers. Tuition fees for bachelor programs are below 3k euros, and a maximum of 4k for masters, but mostly lower.

The only downside with the baltic countries is that they do not have an embassy in Nigeria, and you may need to travel to Egypt for it, but if you can make that trip, you will get your visa. They hardly deny if your application is legit.

The only thing that makes your 10M naira small is school fees, nothing else. For food and accommodation, you can always survive if you are willing to start working the next day after arriving.

All in all, I repeat, don't waste time. In your japa journey, your enemy is not money, it's time. in a year's time, it may be 1usd to 1k naira, which depresses the 10M naira you have now.

I have receipts merely five years ago when I sent money to Nigeria, and comparing the exchange rate then and now just breaks my heart. It's advantageous for us outside, but if you are inside, it's hell.

Ten years ago, folks with less than a million naira can japa to Europe, now, you will be lucky to see flights in that amount.
