After carefully reading, I will advise you go with B reasons are as follows
1. As mentioned here, tech is the new oil
2. A partnership with Google or Microsoft is not a piece of cake meaning there's prospect
3. With the benefits you have stated with both firms, I will choose B, because of future purpose
4. Company A could be a consultant for the government and as you know government is broke and always broke, even if they have private clients, think tomorrow and not government

You are calling Ojo mainland? Oh please stop being funny!

I'm curious as these companies you mentioned which you claim are located in OJO axis. You need to be sure you are not in anyway being scammed as I bet, you cannot find any company of such profile in such an area. Is it Ojo Alaba, Mile2, Sabo or Ajangbadi or Iba or where in Ojo exactly? Please stop being funny, or maybe you think you're talking to gullible people who have no idea of the geography of Ojo. I lived in Ojo axis for over 20years of my life and there's nothing you can tell me. No such companies with those profile exist in Ojo

For the career aspect, you should choose the Environmental aspect. I am an Environmental Scientist also and it's an interesting one, tho not valued here in Nigeria.

Thank you for your prompt response. It's the IT department

OK. I appreciate the fact that you're very skeptical about sharing relevant details so I'd work with the little details I have.

Similarities:
They're both IT roles, they both in Lagos. They're both on the Mainland. They're both very good companies from the way you describe them.

Work culture:
One is multinational, one is local. The multinational wins simply became of the associated exposure and the assumption that multinational firms have healthier work culture. SOP's are more standard. Processes are clearer/well spelled out. The experience will help if you decide to move out of the country later.

Job role/org hierarchy:
One is in a tech firm while the other is the IT department of non tech firm. The tech firm wins not just because it is a tech firm, but because it fits more into your career especially if you plan to diversify your skills in future. The IT guys in non tech firms have some advantages in the sense that one person does a lot of things and thereby getting rounded knowledge. However, there's usually a limit to where they can get to in the org. hierarchy because tech is not the primary service of the firm. You hardly see an IT director in a non tech firm. Instead the IT manager would be reporting to the Finance director or something like that. Meanwhile, those IT guys in tech firms are usually specialists, but they do go deep in thier areas of specialization. Besides, they could get as high as directors for obvious reasons. The stress levels are comparable.

Pay:
You didn't say who pays more, but normally, many non tech firms would pay you more at the beginning. Thier income isn't directly tied to your activity. If the sales are good, they could pay more even if your job tasks haven't changed (this may not be the case for you seeing that your own tech firm is also huge/international). However, in the long run, working in the international tech firm would pay more. First reason is that they go higher up the ladder. Second reason is they they could easily join the non tech firms and get heavily paid as specialists (easier than joining tech from non tech on the basis of the fact that tech firm culture/methodologies take time to acquire). Third reason is that the firm is international. So even if you move abroad, it'd still be a good name on your CV and this would help your bargaining. Finally, specialists are rare and highly sought after.

Conclusion:
I think I'd go with the international tech firm. I'm not a seer, but I'm speaking with the experience of someone who's been in IT for a decade and who has worked in many organizations in multiple countries/continents.

Good luck!

Why?

That’s a big question. In tech, the number of competing companies can be pretty high. It’s very easy for an affiliated company to lose relevance.

The government-related company can be a Pandora’s box- there will be opportunities to travel (a lot), expand one’s network, rest etc. as you get older, if you feel like getting married, it would be easy to adapt that new status and work-related obligations.

P.S: Please delete the companies’ names where ever you mentioned them.

One of the best things about working in a structured company or the civil service is that there are clear guidelines for how to move up in your career and how your pay and benefits will increase.

On the other hand, a lot of people still work in unstructured, informal, or semi-formal places where none of these things are clear.

Most of the time, the owner or a person they choose decides who gets a raise or promotion instead of an independent, objective evaluation of performance.

May I add that the value that counts here is the owner’s perception so “eye service” is rampant in places like these?

But everyone cannot work in a structured co.

So, what do you do if you work in a place like this and do quality work for 2-3 years with no raise or promotion in sight?

Well, you could leave – but you might end up in a similar company.

You can wait it out – keep praying that your deity touches oga’s heart.

Or ask for it.

Yes, ask for your pay raise. Don’t be afraid to ask especially if you do valuable work. I know that you should not have to ask for what you feel you deserve but you must.

But beyond the pay, remember this is about career progression. Ask for more responsibilities too. More responsibilities help strengthen your skillset. You'll be in front of the person making the decision, and if that person is wicked, you'll have more tools to help you get a better deal.

It is weird but people are more likely to give you what you need if you just ask.

It's important to remember that you're not just asking for money; you're asking for a chance to do your job better, get better results, and grow as a professional.
