I have learnt the hard way that forums like this actually do little or nothing to guarantee professionalism as the worker would always want to cut corners and telling lies has become a justifiable instrument of their trade . Just do your review in person before hiring any worker off here and do your best to not hire any one living too far away from your building location. I will definitely come back to enumerate my experience with a supposed “professional casement windows” tech I hired for my project off this forum . It’s been 2 months now for a project that started with a 3 weeks delivery agreement and I don’t know when my windows would be completed as agreed .

From my experience work with different clients on various projects I’ve learned a few things to reduce stories that touch :

- always do research and due diligence before engaging anyone for work. Go and visit their former or current projects , don’t rely on pictures.

- get a quote for the same job from a minimum of 3 people. And don’t be afraid to enter market to find out prices

- ask plenty questions because it is your money at risk. A good number of vendors lack integrity and don’t care if you lose $, their only concern is their pockets.

This is key

- As I always suggest to my clients, always get someone to watch your contractors preferably an independent consultant. Like those invigilators during final exam lol if anybody tries to do ojoro they will chop koboko

Om this issue of leaking roof...please what can I do to fix my leaking roof? They have already started pop work on it.. It's small holes in the roofing sheet about 3 places... My engineer found the holes and said he will fix it for over months now, now he told them to go ahead with pop work that he will fix it through manhole. If I can buy the material and find someone to fix it, I will be at rest... And a picture I got from the pop guys, I noticed that the gutter is pulling off, I guess by wind... What step should I take concerning the issues with the roof?

However, Diasporans should do well to their relations too financially, how can you have a relative that barely feeds and find it difficult to provide for his family, yet you don't see it necessary to support him, even if he didn't ask, But you send him millions of naira to build you a house in Nigeria and you expect him not to rip you off. The bolded worked for me when i did my POP...Got quote from 4 guys, 3 of them from this forum..While there is no much difference in their prices; their measurement was wide apart. That was a "red flag" for me. I knew something was off! So the 4th guy i contacted here on this forum, i fixed a date and we both went there together.. I make sure the measurement was done RIGHT in front of me, me sef i carry calculator and the result, well i saved about 15 square metres for a job that is less than 100 square metre. Except for one of the pop guys, the other three had the same scope of work...After some other few experiences, i just concluded that you the "ABRODIANS" on this forum have spoil all this artisan for us, they want to cheat us the way they cheat YOU!
