We are talking 2001 to 2003 when teams play 4-4-2 which is the period of comparison

Then it's Petit and Lampard in midfield with Gronkjaer and Le Saux on the wings, and Gudjohnsesn and Hasselbaink upfront. That was proper CM work, not AM work.

Most Chelsea fans then including myself prefer Sam Dalla Bonna to lLampard in the CM role, and Ranieri will often move Lampard to RW to play Dalla Bonna in midfield. Dalla Bonna was an all action guy with fire shots and a touch of finesse.

So you can't compare that period to the attacking role Mount plays today.

Potter has not convinced me. He has not done anything extraordinary with respect to tactics. In Tuchel's first five games, Chelsea won four out of five and kept four clean sheets.

This is Tuchel's first five games with Chelsea ( including a draw to the wolves ). We also conceded just two goals in 9 Premier league games. I was part of the TuchelOut team, but nobody should compare Tuchel to Potter. too soon

It was only Tuchel I knew who played 3 at the back then but it doesn't look like bus parking. You guys outplayed athletico, outplayed Pep in the league, outplayed most of your opponents and was creating chances that most of you agreed that the only thing lacking was a clinical striker which was why Lukaku return was really accepted by you guys here.
