For political exigency of not being blamed for not 'bringing the city to his village' in their own time, they traded off their natural asset for infrastructures that are underutilized and now a huge liability the EIA must have mentioned but they ignored. This man was president of Nigeria for 6 years. The only thing he did in Etuoke was building a mansion for himself without even thinking about the susceptibility of the area to flooding. Today, the mansion is underwater and not habitable. Our leaders lack foresight and easily get carried away by all the noise that goes with being a president. Obasanjo was president for 8 years. He didn't remember to reconstruct the road leading to Otta. Today, Obj is complaining about the state of the same road he neglected while in office and had all the power to fix.

OP the right thing to do is not to use public office for personal benefit. By not using public office to develop their own communities to the exclusion of other communities, OBJ and GEJ showed that they are exemplary.

Unfortunately, politicians of Northern extraction use public resources to build their own communities to the exclusion of others. Thus, making people like OP to be somewhat right.

Where do I stand since its like this? I support politicians of Southern extraction concentrating infrastructural projects in the South, while engaging in human capital projects in the North. This is how I see things.
