Buhari disobeyed court order by refusing to release El-zazarky ( someone with more followers than Nnamdi Kanu), heaven didn't fall. And there are many of such with Buhari, murtala, Abacha etc, in history that I wouldn't want 2 bore you with now.

It's obvious you don't know about power. No captain will allow another captain in his ship wielding authority.
Even if Obi becomes president, he wouldn't release nnamdi Kanu anyhow. He must extract from him an understanding to allow peace and the govt to function properly in SE.

I do not blame Nnamdi Kanu for all the security issues in SE, but I must admit that he heavily encouraged n enhanced it. And Businesses and indigenes have suffered so much in SE as a result.
It's like politicians that give guns to police without adequate renumeration and thugs without accountability and education. The police will extort citizens and thugs will rob after elections.

Also, like how Ngige n Mbadinuju empowered Bakassi boys to fight robbers in Anambra then. When most of the robbers fled to other states, what happened?? They turned on the innocent residents.

Every society with high illiteracy n poverty have criminals period. A leader must ensure that he keeps the criminals down n keep educating d younger generation. And improve the economy to accommodate more middle class. But anytime a leader comes to empower and elevate the criminals to achieve any objective, noble or hideous, will most likely spell doom for the security of lives and property in the long run. Because you can easily motivate poor criminals n thugs, but you will never control them on d long term. They'll always take it out on the weaker set of the citizens.

Most demographics of the SE are business men n traders. So it's expected to have people making money to become richer n others loosing money to become poor. But the value in the region teaches everyone to keep huzling n fighting to become rich one day. So, someone that lost money today can still make money tomorrow to become rich. But the Advent of ipob n ESN ( even though with good intentions) made it that anyone that looses his money for business n struggles with making it back can just easily go to join the campaign which is like a 2nd love in d region. It also made it that criminals from every other place could easily find a second home with ESN. Today SE is bleeding and on the verge of domestic terrorism. Even if Kanu comes out now, it'll be almost impossible for him to easily control what have become of ipob n EsN.
