Hi Fellow Nairalanders!

I am typing this piece with Disappointment, I least expected this.

So, I finished My Youth Service with Joy and gladness, and was back home till I get a good paying job, since I studied Metalogy/Civil Enginnering in the University..

As a Sure guy with Parly (Certificate) cheesy
I was very much confident of getting a nice paying job, So I started my Journey as a Job Seeker..

1st year, 2nd year, went by, and still nothing, So i decided to digress into something else for the meantime, everyone knows how Nigeria is .

I decided to pop into Teaching, atleast 'head still fresh'
I got this job, in a Primary school, the Headmistress and I agreed on a 30,000 monthly salary... I was happy though .

I resumed work, truth be told it was fun, but Sour at last..
I never knew this Madam was in for a trick..

Things were going well oo!
Firstly, Late to work a day - 5,000 deducted
Not being audible enough in the classroom - 3,000 deduction
Pupils not able to grab the day's work - 2,000 deducted
Failure to mark pupils note/ asessment/ assignment - 5,000 deduction
Few pupils failing Test, Oral questions and Examination - 5,000 deduction....

I was called for my salary, then Mrs. Headmistress brought out my file of report and defects , i was shocked when she tabled a sum of 15,000 naira as my salary for the month and Said "Welcome" I couldn't Fanthom where I was but i gathered myself and said "Thank you ma"

According to my fellow staff, this was the hidden principle in The School, people's salaries were deducted to nothing ...

I went home and slept throughout the week ..

Now Do you think I continue in this Mess or Venture into frying of akara and become self employed..

what are your thoughts, help a brother!!
what's the update, have you started already?

Tell me why God will not bless you.

lynx200:
Go for the akara business. But do some research before you venture into it. Spend at least a week going around the highest selling akara joints and see what makes them attract customers.

So many people are into food business, but only a small percentage make it big. In my area, there are 3 people who sell akara, including a lady who branded herself. But guess what, only one of them has customers thronging there daily in good numbers. And no, it's not the branded lady.

Do the research I told you about, observing what makes them sell. At home, experiment with recipes that will attract people until you get the right one. Observe the time these sellers make majority of their sales. The high selling lady in my area sells in the morning and late in the evening. Leave the afternoons for rest and planning. Many food sellers think people will come because it's food. Fat lie!

One thing about this venture is it's not expensive to start, and you make daily turnover. But be careful with your money when you start. Write down your plans. If you have to provide complementary products like bread and akamu, do it when you have the funds. Then do the branding thingy when funds are available.

Also, listen to your customers preference. Get a good location and market yourself in the area. Your school employer is a thief, so it's not worth staying with her. Go for it and believe in yourself. Good luck!

They've jeopardize the education sector. They know the power of education thereby, destroying it for Nigerians.

How many of their children are into POS or doing menial jobs..

It's so sad.

Education is valuable.
But not in NIgeria.

Great. It is nothing close to divorce for me. It's all covid 19.
Some nairalanders call me divorced even before I become one.

Eazy to like u already. I won't wish 'divorce' for you see, there's a lotta mess involved. I bore the scars (parents) once. It's nasty on kids. I'll rather forgive, tolerate, make sacrifices not to score point, allow her with the guys once in.. (and in that circle all over). Pretensive shey? (I do that too).

Marriage is one boat I wouldn't advise loved ones to rock. Too many boomerangs. What do you think.
Re: Should I Just Venture Into Akara Business??? by Divoc19(f): 12:32pm On Nov 04, 2022
Me think from experience, there are different types of divorce.

There's a divorce that prioritize the welfare of the children.

Another is about freedom for the spouses.

Another one is fermented with hatred for either a spouse or the children involved.

The first among the list means the spouses will coparent and have a healthy relationship that will have positive effect on the children's life.

The least among the list is the worse and most common types of divorce we see around us today. It's sad though.

Divorce is good if done rightly.
Marriage supposed to be a contract not a life sentence.

Maybe, there is something in it for me to learn (at least the part about being imprisoned) but then my faith frowns at divorce. Uhm! I can be a conservatist.
Re: Should I Just Venture Into Akara Business??? by Divoc19(f): 3:03pm On Nov 04, 2022
Your faith also gave valid reasons to get one.

It is not a taboo.

Even the children of Israel had to be liberated from Egypt. That seemed to look like a perfect marriage when Jacob came in with his 11 tribes smiley

The bible said the truth shall set you free. If you blindly or ignorantly did something and now your eyes are open. Why will you want to look for a reason to remain enslaved huh

Remember, ain't no spouse excuse in heaven. You are on your own on that day

Be like I don dey talk too much cheesy

Start the akara biz sharpenly. You will be amazed how better it is. Don't be ashamed. In a month you will make more than 30k gross profit.
But 30k is small as gross profit
