A Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), says he will dialogue with agitators if he’s elected president in 2023. Speaking in an interview published on Thursday by Daily Trust, Obi said his approach to tackling insecurity will be different, adding that he will govern by listening to the people. He said the northern part of the country has vast land for farming, noting that his administration if elected, will invest in agriculture. “I have said it times without number, Nigeria does not have more agitation than Brazil. If you want I will show you countries that have had agitations in the past, whether it is Brazil, Mexico,” Obi said. “In our south-east, it is a simple thing, I will dialogue, I will discuss, it is a democracy, and in a democracy, you govern by consensus. If anybody says he is not happy, you call him and you sit him down and discuss with him. “People agitate in my house, my wife, my children. If you say to me you have lived with your wife all through and you people have never quarrelled, then you are not married. You disagree and settle it – that is agitation. “I will govern by listening to the people. I will visit every state in Nigeria. We have a huge land in the north that if properly invested and cultivated, will change Nigeria. The more I pull people out of poverty, the more I reduce agitation, the more I reduce “What you are seeing in Nigeria today is a cumulative effect of leadership failure over the years and all I want to do is to be seen to be that man who changed this country called Nigeria. “I don’t like the way people were treated during the EndSARS, I will apologise. We must have a country of healing and love, that is what leadership in a democracy is. “I am going to meet people in the north, I am going to meet people everywhere and say come, let’s be a family. I want Nigerians to be proud that they are Nigerians. What we have now is we have a country called Nigeria but we don’t have Nigerians. We told them that this man na fraud but deceiving his supporters who are gullibly zombie-ing for him. How well did he treat EndSars youths when he refused to show up at the panel to defend his atrocities he committed during Akwuzu sars?.. Pandora ran to the court to obtain an injunction stopping EndSars panel from investigating him. The Nigeria president we need don't necessarily need to be a dictator, but he must be ffocus, firm and decisive, proactive & not reactionary, not yielding to distractions nor responding to every hearsays. GEJ seems to be weak and allowed many of allies ruined his administration then, we opted for Buhari thinking he'll take charge but lo & behold he wasn't different. I would have given PO a chance to see what he can do base on the hype from his supporters even though his track record was not convincing, but we can't be gambling every election year. All these people just sitting & waiting to attack Obi’s statements, what is your own preferred candidate saying that makes more sense to you? The man says Nigerian youths deserve respect and that’s an issue to a supposedly sane mind?? The youth of any nation are its future. If you don’t invest in your future you’ll remain stuck in problems of the past! One candidate went and shamelessly copied another Party’s manifesto verbatim while the other is still owing the company that wrote manifesto for him, because they care only about their own futures not yours. Aufbauh: You would have been making much sense if you could point to a better alternative in the presidential race. Fact of the matter is that you can not. We are talking about what's on ground. As far as I'm concerned, when folks try to make these sorts of convulated argument against a very clearly better candidate, they seem to do so as a trick to get the citizens of this country to eat their vomit. The 3 leading presidential candidates in this election are Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Yekini Amoda Tinupoo. That's the reality! If Obi can not convince you, then your candidate must be one of the remaining two, right? I just love these Peter obi. A man that developed two state of Lagos and anambra with his economic policies. Obi single handedly made Lagos and anambra what it is today. That's why we the nigerian youth are saying,if obi can give his economic policies to Lagos and develop Lagos and anambra and is better than all past Lagos governor's put together then he should replicate in Nigeria.
