The reason why he mentioned the vast land in the north is because, compared to other places that has uncultivated lands they are number 1. If the land is cultivated properly, they alone can feed the entire country, who knows even export the excess. They have the most number of unemployed youths. Need I mention the poverty rate that would be reduced in the north when they cultivate the vast land??
I'm just selling cheap and giving them out at the village. Is that agriculture?
Even those already in the biz are struggle due lack of adequate capital

If All Nigerians can embrace sack farming, lack of food no go kill Tinubu urrchinns Na.

Cos if them urrchinns are occupied with good jobs(not 30k per month propaganda, with owing), they won't come online to spill trash and degrade their sense genes and add more stupidity to their bloodline.

One need not use the entire land to plant and if one doesn't live around the land, what happens? If you are trying to encourage people having gardens in their house, good however, if it is full farming, very bad. Subsistence farming should be discouraged.

If an average Nigerian has some piece of land (or lands), he would leave it fallow, and the land would be wasting away.

If you ask him why he left the land unused,, HE WOULD RUSH TO SAY THAT THE MONEY HAS NOT COME YET....[/b]

He won't even get himself to think that you were asking him why he wasn't planting on the land...
He would be thinking that you asked him why he had not built anything on the land, or why he had not sold it to someone (or some people) who has the resources and funds to build something on the land..

That's where we now find ourselves now.

We need a re-orientation.
We need to re-align our minds..

We have become so lazy.
We see land, and instead of seeing Agriculture, we are seeing houses, and plazas, and shops....
As if it is everybody that can venture into real estate business.
I agree with you 100%.

But I can tell you that a reset is on. Actually the reset has been on for a while now but the Media is not doing enough to report it enough.

The same way Nigerians celebrate building of Ports. I ask myself what are these Ports going to be exporting or rather what are the things these Ports going to take out of Nigeria to the World aside our Oil? In. Fact, more Ports mean more Chinese junk!.

We are a people that celebrate what I call " The Edifice Mentality"

All of us want to "Kole m'ole" Build and build houses. Lol

Ask that guy that owns that 10 Fallow piece of Land that you want to use it for Cassava ànd Maize during Rainy Season, he would say No! Thinking money can come anytime for him/her to commence building. Lol

Na everybody be farmer

Na every land suitable for farming, you think farming is just something you jump into because you have land

What's the percentage of people doing farming in USA or Europe that they are feeding nations.

Idiot of you to call people lazy because they are not doing farming

as i dey now, i get 4 acres wasting, i have to plant this here i swear, the problem of planting is security. I wanted to do plantain plantation before, but while will i do plantation where by once the plantain start to dey grow plantain, the whole community go dey help me monitor am? before i harvest am, people go come dey harvest am. This is the major issue regards farming. This is while lots of people do cassava, its difficult to thief. Well i will be planting yam this year sha, and may be cocoyam.

If we want food to be available, cheap and presentable, law on agriculture should be passed. Anybody not involved in agriculture will be either sentenced to death, life imprisonment or public execution by firing squad or beheading.

I tell you, naira will go from N800 per dollar to N0.005 per dollar.
Re: In Nigeria, We Love Building Houses More Than Agriculture by blowjohn(m): 2:34pm On Nov 08, 2022
I'd rather rent a house at 3 million per year for the next 15 years, if I had like 200 Million naira cash.
Rather than go and build a house of 150 million

Then use the remaining money to make more money.

It's a Nigerian thing. If u no build house u never arrive.
Parents end up not investing in their children education becos of this.

Like the greatest rapper / MC , Nas rapped in his song, 'highly favoured,'

The OG said, "No matter what it is, rent it
And never buy it, it's all temporary possession
We don't own nothing on this Earth but our soul and that's the lesson"

Let the OP start a farm and show us his farm. Agriculture, properly done, does not require every Ameachi, Bolaji and Ciroma to start a farm.

They will eat the houses when they are hungry or just import anyway. The latter seems the easiest route to go.

When people like you condemn others, the question is can you show us the farm you have started? That will be a good inspiration

Mostly SW. You can't go to any place in SW today and meet it the same way in the next 5 years. There are some dilapidated buildings in SW(Ibadan especially) that should be demolished or forfeited to the state government. Places like that should be redeveloped rather than the deforestation of the entire region

Maka chukwu, this is the absolute solution.
Every citizen should me made to have an iota of contribution towards agriculture, whether u r a doctor, lawyer or teacher. If u don't have land for that, you will be given land for cultivation. In the end, the government buys the produce from everyone and sell at a controlled price.

People ventured into farming in ogun, osun and the like. Herdsmen came to eat the crops and also kill some with impunity. Stop giving a foolish excuses. The thread did not say you have to go on to farm in the outskirt of your location. It is only encouraging people to start small.

This is why we cannot afford another northerner as president. They always take with the levity of hands the issue of herdsmen and their cows. We need a southern with the will to set things right. Courageous enough to take bold steps that block all the stumbling blocks that affecting the development of this nation.
