I am considering getting a car (skoda octavia 2010) to start this Uber/bolt/indriver biz and I have a few questions that I haven't found answers to after randomly going through the pages here. Questions are:

1. Shey the car good for this business? Won't make sense to spend the bulk of my money fixing it intermittently. Also, would the car qualify for their requirements?

2. I know the best is to do this business personally. However, what's the estimated weekly income if I get a partner?

3. What are the basic tips a newbie should take note of?

I don't mind if you just drop links to the answers.

Good Afternoon All, I just bought my car and done with my Indrive registration and Bolt ( remain to go for bolt inspection), have registered for my Lagos state driver license too.

I work at VI ( Monday to Friday) and I stay at ijegun and I have people I carry to work weekdays ( I mk like 4k daily during weekdays)

My issue now is I don't know Lagos route very well and am afraid of those Lasma people. Am thinking of working only Sundays for now as police and Lasma hardly stay on the road on Sundays.

SUGGESTIONS NEEDED
1- Best route for newbie to start from?
2- Route to Avoid by any means necessary?
3- How to know long distance booking in INDRIVE when a rider request?
4- Key things to consider in order to avoid problems on the road?
5 - which area should I focus more in mainland

Personally , na me get car I just need extra income to the use maintain my car and pay some few bills. Considering I also drive to work and carry people too.

6-Can Sunday work earning be enough for me?
7- how to know short distance request on INDRIVE
Please any suggestions will be appreciated alot. To help me as I start this weekend.

First and foremost you’d need to keep it in mind that CAT is a long time recognized premium specialty brand. , they manufacture mostly niche professional tools and gadgets. The product I’m showing you was manufactured in and imported from the UK. The quality of the product is top of the line and it will last you for ages with normal use.

It’s still the price that scares people off notwithstanding that the premium brand won’t disappoint or explode even after donkey years of continuous use.

Lets not even go into details concerning all these yeye Chinese mass produced cigarette lighter plug in type of tyre inflators. I’ve bought two of them before for between N10k to N15k each at different times and they didn’t even last up to 2 years before just deciding not to function again, and I’m a very careful person. I just took it out of the boot to use one day and it didn’t answer me. That’s how I was left stranded. They mostly spoil in silence and disappoint you when you need them the most.

CAT products are built tough and precise to guarantee that they last for years even with the roughest of use. This product I’m showing you here might be expensive . . . Yes, is agree, but it’s a premium product with a bulletproof guarantee for years upon years of faithful usage.

But let's be clear this product is a jump start and not a replacement battery .
This product can't replace the portable power bank we carry around and I can charge my phone in my car. I can use a generator to power or charge appliances.
This guy cant patch a punctured tyre. Only to inflate back to gauge. Offcourse an average tubeless tyre can go miles on a low pressure until u reach a vulcanizer or a safe place except it is badly punctured. So if your tyre is punctured u have to change to spare or fix the damage.

What I am saying in essence is, for town drivers the only thing this product is useful for is to jumpstart a car in d event battery goes dead. So why will we buy that value for 100k when it happens just once in 2years.
Although, I agree it is a very important device to have. But I think it's more suited for country drivers, outskirt dwellers, construction, event planners, picnic, adventure and tour travellers in desert, wilderness, forest and deserted places who will utilise all it's offerings and features and get value for their money.

If u give me a CAT car battery billed to last 10yrs for 150k I know that's a produt with value.

Bidding on indrive is not generally advisable as a driver.
Indrive passengers are now wised up, they are understanding the app rapidly, so, they will continue to reject higher biddings to what they (riders) are proposing.
Biddings could only work at late night, and all of us should know why.
When I see a ride that the fair is obviously tampered with and passenger bids low for it, I ignore while chilling where I parked.
There is no way you will not get good order where you are parked, no matter how long you've been waiting.
A driver who's bidding for rides will get frustrated cos it will continuously be declined, cos other drivers are rushing the fare like flies.
I no dey even bother myself on indrive or do fastest finger stuff, my ride will come for sure and it will be easy and peaceful.
If I see order with low fare and long distance destination, I would rather pick it and accept it like that than bidding, and that depends on where I am located at that moment.
As a boss wey you be, abeg dey use indrive. You will see the difference.
Maybe na because me I still dey have that feeling of a newbie sha, cos I was not making huge gross during my bolt time, that's why I'm contented with what I've been making on indrive.
Imagine someone wey dey gross 50k-60k on bolt on full day work, make he/she come settle for 35k gross on full day work on indrive, him go dey pissed off like what is this 35k gross for?
But we wey we no like wahala, we are okay with 25k gross (18k net), 30k gross (22k net), 35k gross (26k net) on indrive on full day work.
Na so I see am, boss.
Indrive makes sense, if na the bidding wey dey make you disregard indrive, abeg no dey do bidding again.
Just a daily target is the way to run indrive.
Cos as people dey crave for this bolt still dey surprise me, I no go lie. Cos na this same indrive I don dey use for almost 3 months without bolt and I'm not having any regret at all.

Bro, you know what I see, the people here are not the right customers for this thing. They look like it but they are actually not. If they are, you won't write more than two sentences and they will be asking you for how to buy. There is money but the reason why people are not asking you to send ordering info is because they've weighed their options and they have less need for it.

Pearl has rightly said it. The people that will actually spend that kind of money on it are people who will constantly need it. A typical user here may not even need to use it for once in six months. So, why should he invest 120k on it when he can buy the one that is 25k or 30k.

There are vulcanizers everywhere. If I have a jumpstart cable in my car, I can easily get help within the city.

What am I saying? Re-evaluate your marketing strategies

Selling is not as difficult in the right environment.

Truth is nobody here cares about any brand, so long it works. The people that brand stuff can work for are people who have been in dire need and a particular brand Fu*ked them up. How many people here have had such experience?

I'm not trying to pull your biz down but as someone who also have interest in sales and marketing, I'm just giving sincere advice. Re-evaluate your strategies...!

Solara is a Coupe... Just Two doors. Bolt won't accept it. But if can make do with it on Indrive.
I'm not sure though because Indrive has improved a lot and they may not accept somethings like before. Try your luck sha

Transporters who use vehicles everyday to make a living, my brother WHERE/WHO ELSE ARE THE BEST PEOPLE TO MARKET SUCH PRODUCTS TO? I still say it, the price is high . . . Yes, but so is it’s quality. My brother, I’m just doing some product sensitization on this thread. If someone here decides to buy or not it won’t stop my selling out every single unit of this product before Friday. I am just hoping one person from here can get one unit. I’ve always sold this product on nairaland since the inception of its procurement by our establishment but this is the first time I’m posting its advert on this Uber thread.

This thread has been up for years, why I haven’t advertised it here before I can’t really say. Maybe it’s because I’ve always sold out the product just by posting it on other threads alone.

This is the same way there was sensitization for people to dump using mobil XHP 20w50 for their tokumbo vehicles, some still kick against it till today but some others have seen reason to utilize such brands. There’s Castrol, Liquimoly, etc 5w20 and 5w30 up to 5w40 and more people keep seeing the need to stop using the heavyweight conventional oils in their vehicles today. When did the sensitization start?

This is the first time I advertised here and I naturally expected some people to push against it due to its price alone. I know if it was it’s durability or functionality nobody in their right senses would question it.

So naturally I’m ready to write epistles here to let people see the need to have an emergency unit with them. Some will see and some won’t. That’s how the world works. If nobody can buy it now I’m certain some others can buy it when next some are brought into the country. That’s how business is.

You say there are vulcanizers everywhere right? Have you ever had a tyre emergency at 9pm? How many vulcanizers will you see at their spots to help you? Even the ones that agree will charge you nothing less than N3k because it’s after working hours.

You spoke of having jumper cables right? Do you know that even with my own jumper cables most motorists are scared of assisting me with a jump start either because they don’t have the time, they don’t trust the location I’m requesting the help at, they are just ignorant of the functionality of the cables or they are afraid that my alternator will also kill their own battery during the help?

He then started dropping his tips and tricks which some started to follow. It didn’t even take up to a month later for InDriver to rebrand their company and make their services more user friendly and even changed their name. Then today 90% of drivers here are calling the same InDriver they once sneered at their new bae . Can’t you see the pattern?

I may be loudmouthed, irritating or insulting but I always have a reason for this behavior. It is usually triggered by something. I am not too big to apologize, saying sorry is hard but I do it without blinking because I am not a proud person.
