The 2023 elections are only 4 months away, and the election poises to be the most tribalistic election ever held in recent history in Nigeria. The election is tilted in four ways due to the four main candidates. Atiku Abubakar - NE Bola Tinubu - SW Rabiu Kwankwaso - NW Peter Obi - SE The two main antagonists in the election are the supporters of former Lagos Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who are known as the Batists(Batified), and the supporters of former Anambra governor, Peter Gregory Obi, popularly known as Obidients. The two northern candidates are not on very good terms but are not going at each other's throats, just the southern candidates and that's cause the two candidates come from the two major southern tribes of Yoruba and Igbo. The North on the other hand have two major tribes the Hausa and Fulani, with other minorities like the Jukun, Tivs, Ibira, etc, but have it easier to maintain their hold on the country cause they have no seeming division between them politically, though the interpersonal relationships are not rosy. The two major tribes have the most amazing interpersonal relationships, but are always against each other politically. This has always dampened the chances of the South in any election, most especially to the detriment of the South East who have never produced any head of state since the country gained independence. The situation doesn't seem to be going away, but rather widening and getting worse. •FirstSon01• •Edo political analyst• cc: Mynd44 Seun NLPFmod |

The dominant tribes from Northern Nigeria, Hausa/Fulani, are not going to choose a Southerner over one of their own - Atiku Abubakar. This is the honest truth. I really wish we had one consensus candidate from Southern Nigeria. 4 Likes |

Tonim: They can and they will, they chose OBJ and they chose GEJ. They can't choose either of BAT or Obi cause they're both very tribalistic. 1 Like |

The Notorious Drug Baron that betrayed his fellow southerner in 2015 because of his own personal ambition can never become president. The North does not trust him.... If he can betray his fellow southerner, he would not hesitate to betray Northerners. The Results of his Treacherous act against his fellow southerner is what we are witnessing in the nation today. Insecurity Economic Recession High Unemployment rate Broad daylight Corruption.. High Inflation Worthless Currency So many unfulfilled promises Therefore power must remain in the North until further notice. Thïefnubu must not be rewarded with a 4 year mandate to rule Nigeria. He has used the life, future and Destiny of Nigeria to play kalo kalo for the past 7 years. It is now the Turn of sane Nigerians to tell him that we are not dancing to his Emi Lokan reggae... 1 Like |

FirstSon01: When they chose OBJ, there was no Northerner running. It was OBJ vs Falae. GEJ was not elected solely as President. He became President because He was the VP when Yar’Adua passed on. How do you guys expect Northerners (Hausa/ Fulani) to vote for a Southerner when one of them - a fellow fulani- is on the ballot? 1 Like |

Tonim: They voted GEJ against Buhari. GEJ won so many northern states. If BAT didn't help Bubu he would have been wandering. 1 Like |

FirstSon01: Ok Sha. You are right; they did vote GEJ against Buhari, but GEJ was a sitting President at the time. I wish we had one sole consensus candidate running from Southern Nigeria. The OP has made some very valid points which shouldn’t be overlooked. 1 Like 1 Share |

You guys are entitled to your opinion but be rest assured that Tinubu will win Zamfara, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kaduna, Bornu, Yobe, Gombe, Niger, Kogi, Kwara and Nasarawa all in the north. While we are all guilty of tribalism and ethnic sentiments, northerners are also reasonable people who understand the challenges of our diversity. They voted for MKO over Tofa in 1993 and voted significantly for Obasanjo over Buhari in 2003. When they wanted power in 2015 (and rightly so), the south west rose beyond ethnic sentiments to ensure power is returned to the north. In 2023, the north will rise beyond the sentiments Peter Obi supporters are projecting and Tinubu will win all the northern states I mentioned above. |

Tonim: Also, the sitting President is not really willing to see Power shift back to the South. Recall the APC primaries convention |

Arnold1: 100%. There is a very strong force behind Tinubu. If it is a one way ticket for Atiku, he won’t be begging Wike and pressuring Kwakwanso to step down for him. |

I'm just pointing out your weird logic! You childishly believe that Yorubas will vote for a Yoruba man but Hausa-Fulanis wont vote for an Hausa-Fulani man. What a childish logic! ALTERNATEID: |

ALTERNATEID:I wonder where some of you get your mindsets from. The story of Awolowo, Abiola and Kudirat did not teach you all lessons, that in the quest for power, the game is beyond your Awolowo's free education sophistication. I really hope the north comes through for your candidate, if not, he will join the list of those who have been taught bitter political lessons. The heartbreak go strong if it goes wrong. |
