2008 to 2012 accord is okay and solid.

The 2.0L engine should be a avoided parts for it is very expensive and scarse.

Buy one with 2.4L i4 the k24z3 is very solid and comes with timing chain.

The 3.5L V6 is solid too if you want power and speed the engine should be your choice.

LX trim is the most basic
Ex has little luxury
EX-L is the topmost trim with navigation screen included.

thanks for the response sir

Since it's your first car..the camry no bad.But you will enjoy the 2006 es330 better, its a more refined sturdy ride. The muscle is just too plastic with poor handling. But it's a good ride for a first timer. If you are now conversant with rides, you will make a better choice. All the best

How about a brand new car? Innoson or any other nigerian dealer should have cars close to your budget and have financing options just incase.

I have not owned a car, but, I have driven the SE, Le and xle trims.

The Le is like the basic trim. The SE is the sports tuned trim. The suspension is more firm and the ride is a bit harsh on rough roads.

My question to you is, do you like the SE because of the sporty looks or because of sports performance?

Congratulations in advance,
Just know that a vehicle in your garage adds to your responsibility mentally and financially.

Kindly note the following:

1.No matter what anyone tells you no vehicle is maintenance free!
2.whatever trim, make or model you choose to buy, remember that the primary purpose of a vehicle is to take you from point A to point B... unless u hv other motives
3. You will appear richer and look like someone that has "made it" to your neighbors, friends and family.
4. Expect more insecurity and harsh attitude from your wife when you are not able to explain in details your whereabouts....to her
5. Beware of "friends and family" that will recommend mechanics that will be fixing Ur car.....most times they will usually take a certain percentage from the mechanics.
6. Buy your vehicle from a trusted dealer and make sure to park it in a secured environment.....some dealers have been caught stealing vehicles they sold earlier.
7. Never make the mistake of thinking your vehicle should be faster than any other vehicle on the road even if they are same trim and model as yours.
8. Be prepared to hurt alot of people in your circle cos you won't be able to drive all of them to where they want to be.
9. Most beautiful girls that looked distressed on the road are baits...
10. Mechanics will frustrate you if you don't let them cheat you... this guaranteed 100%

Checking the vehicle's history is vital in considering a used car purchase. The vehicle's history report tells you if the car has been in any accidents, whether it has been previously stolen or flood-damaged, and if there are any recalls or other issues associated with the vehicle.

You can usually purchase a vehicle history report online. Use the car's VIN number to obtain a report, which will likely come with a fee. Checking the history of a car can save you a lot of money and hassle in the long run.

If you're really thinking about buying a used car, then you need to have a qualified mechanic inspect it first. This will give you an idea of any potential problems with the car and whether it is worth the asking price.

Hello all,

Thanks for clicking the link to this post.
I intend to buy my first car by January 2023. I am a big fan of Toyota and have an eye for the SE Trim, 2007-2011 camry.
I am budgeting between 3m-4m to get a clean tokunbo and would like to hear similar experiences from people who have been in this shoe before. I am married with just a kid. All ideas are welcome and again thanks for viewing this thread.

From my Experience: don’t go for v6 avoid them totally especially those with push start.

Check out for your catalyst. Just look under the car when your buying it…

Tell the mechanic to test drive the car also with you inside. For a while and then you test ride if you know how to drive. Listen for sounds

What's the function of the catalyst?
My brother mentioned it to me too

I bought my Camry XLE V6 since July 2017 and I don't regret ever going for it. I've only changed plugs trice on the engine and one coil once. Apart from that, I've not touched the engine. I service (oil and filter change) every three months using mobile super 1000 oil. My suspensions are still the follow-come. I've changed AC compressor once to peuguet 607 compressor. They say it's the best and so far, I think they are right.
In summary, I think I got lucky with a good buy to some extent but I also think my mechanical engineering background too has helped me to give the car a very good maintenance history.
That car is a beast. She's 5yrs and 4mths, first body and still glitters.

How much was the 607 compressor?
And why is the best?

If you are buying it from abroad do vin search before purchase.

Before that, do a detail study on issues the make, model, & year you want have. At times, you may need to change your mind after the findings.

Regardless of the state, either tokunbo or naija used, do ensure you verify the custom papers so as to be sure that it was brought in through proper channel, so that you won't have your vehicle impounded.

If you are getting it here, go with a good mechanic & ensure checklist is observed.

I advise people to use a scanner too. The errors generated by it will let you know what you getting into.

Pray you get the good one.

Be Cautious and obtain a detailed vehicle history report from computerglobal which can reveal many hidden problems from a vehicle’s past, including flood titles, recalls and more, and also will indicate if a vehicle has been registered in at-risk areas during flood and hurricane seasons.

Avoid V6. Avoid Diesel cars, go for cars you can easily get spare parts. Because a car is cheap does not make it a good car for you. Lastly, go with a trusted mechanic or you will cry blood
that Toyota V6 camry is super expensive to maintain... The engine alone is about 650k the gear is about 350k...itd a 2GR engine and not every Toyota mechanic can work on it

the Acura is better value for money and makes sense for longevity.

If you're looking to change cars in a short period. The es350 might be better because of resale value.

Overall the Acura is still a better luxury midsize sedan.

Though your budget is ok for a tokumbo.... It's still less than the current hyped market price for a direct Tokumbo Camry. The price now is 4.3m-4.8m 07-011 Camry. For sharp one with sharp body. And with the issues of 07-09 I bet you wouldn't think about it.

When you buy, you might need to change rim... Alloyed rim 250k
4 Tires....100-150k

Maintaice bills over the useful life of the car.....On God
I hope you consider these things. The price for this Camrys is quite over hyped. Remember you still need money to maintain the car and the little problems that comes up. No car is problem free.

Your best bet is a sharp 011 Camry distress sale that has all the features you want, then you can bargain..3m-3.5m... With smart mechanic and maybe 2 frnds with the same car that has been using it for quite some time. These Car is fun to own , but the price tag and lack of financing makes it a big liability you must be prepared for. If I have 3-4m right now, I would go for a sound direct tokumbo 012 Accord that has allowed rim and sharp engine and keep the change for any emergency.
