Victor Osimhen wins the Emerging Player of the Year at the Globe Awards in Dubai. Congratulations to him

And remember, Okocha and Martins back then were actually picking competitive games. Not just friendlies. But unlike them back then, Victor has hardly missed a competitive game for Nigeria be it home or away. And if Napoli feels he is too important to be released for mere friendlies but won't hold him back from competitive games, then I don't think that's a bad idea. Let's face it. He is Napoli's number 1 Talisman and he and that club are on the verge of history this season. It would mean the world to Osimhen to achieve such with Napoli. On the other hand, he is also Nigeria's Biggest Player yet he is always available when it matters (Minus the Afcon incident which isn't his fault at all). Osimhen is out for greatness in the Sport and there are sacrifices that must be made and if one of such sacrifices is not going head to head with ADL on being available for friendlies but only for competitive games then for now, so be it. I reckon this might be Osimhen's last season at Napoli. So such may not continue elsewhere. ADL is the issue here. Not Victor. BannedLarge: |

TheSuperNerd:1) Okocha and Kanu were WRONG if they didn’t honor friendly invitations 2) I don’t care whether he is Napoli number 1 striker, when Messi or salah that has won multiple trophies for their country Rarely missed friendly games when Fit, WTF is osimehn that hasn’t won 1 trophy to be pulling such. Wrong is wrong and you know it but you’re blinded by “Jersey and Money” favortism…. He should continue disregarding friendly games |

Samueltemi337:This looks more like 4-3-3, but if it is 4-4-2 then Moses Simon and Iwobi will man the wings, while Ndidi and Aribo will occupy the central midfield. Moffi will play the CF with Lookman as the SS |

Where were you when Victor missed close to 2months or more in his first Napoli season due to a freak hand injury he picked up vs Sierra leone? Didn't you criticise Victor's first season at Napoli calling his 10 goals return poor and deliberately ignoring his injury episodes that same season.... a season that went the way it did due to commitment to his nation? Look, in the light of this year, the friendlies are actually inconsequential. Mexico and Ecuador were Jpes' first games and Victor didn't play those but he walked straight into the squad and still delivered in the competitive fixtures. Vs Algeria, he wasn't available. Did it matter? Vs Portugal, he refuses to be risked by his club. So what do you want? For him to come and maybe risk his minor knock against Portugal and then maybe aggravate things and ruin his perfect season so that you can come hit Victor again for not reaching 20 goals in a league season?? Abeg, rest! BannedLarge: |

I wish super eagles players can emulate their passionate Senegalese counterparts. Those Senegalese are literally and figuratively prepared to Honor/die for their badge. To be fair, their Federation might have set a precedence for good management. A player like Mane that has an Epl, champions league, calling cup, Epl top scorer, 100 goals in Epl, 2nd and 3rd place balon d’or, 2 times African footballer of the year award rarely Ever Miss “Friendly matches” for his country because he understands that, he is a leader that’s setting a precedence to his teammates and someone wants to justify a player with 9 Seria A goals disregarding his national team invitations.. |

He is not disrespecting the team. He has a knock and MRI scans were sent as proof. He doesn't want to be risked for a mere friendly. Simple. It is clearly ADL you should direct your talks at. He's the one who doesn't wanna release these guys. He has come out to speak against the idea of Napoli acquiring African talents in future. Did you miss that? BannedLarge: |

TheSuperNerd:While it makes sense to be disappointed at Victor's absence from the friendly, it also isn't out of place that most Nigerians have decided to cut him some slack. No one can dispute that Victor is by far one of the most dedicated player the Super Eagles have. He's one person Nigerians know will give 110% anytime he puts on the green and white. Little wonder his "injury" haven been treated with same outrage as other might have. Additionally, while we may not be privy to the inner workings of what obtains in Naples, it is clear to everyone that Napoli isn't one of the easiest place for a player to ply his trade. The President of Napoli have as much as confirmed that in the press. It only makes sense that Victor will try as much as possible to thread carefully, as this is also likely his last season. |

And here we go again... @bolded He is already downplaying Victor's Serie A goals count so far. Something the lad did in 10 starts and despite missing 5 weeks of action due to injury. Do you see your problem? You are quick to downplay the same lad you want to come and play every game. Same lad who always give his all on the pitch compared to every other Super Eagle. Rest abeg. You have started the subtle downplay. BannedLarge: |

lovewins:The same Napoli will drop him like a Hot pocket if he loses Form but Nigeria wouldn’t I.e present super eagles captain. As a leader or the number 1 player on your team, you must ensure to voice the importance of team loyalty and unity. You’re setting a bad precedence to other players by disrespectfully ignoring friendly invitations. By next game, other SE big players might decide to stop honoring Friendlies. Anytime I wish a nigerian Striker break Yekini record mercilessly, they will decide to start a non Chalant attitude forgetting that one isn’t going to be Hot forever. Obafemi martins attitude is still fresh in my head |

You cannot turn a blind eye to ADL's comments and intentions towards African talents. You cannot. So your ADL or no ADL talks is not cogent. And Victor has a minor knock. It is not the first time a player would actually be said to have picked up or felt a knock right after a game. Victor didn't rule himself out. So your narrative is false. The point is if Napoli sees any opportunity to hold on to Victor from friendlies, they will take it because he is their most prized asset and ADL has voiced his mind on this. elyte89: |

TheSuperNerd:Not downplaying it but calling a spade a spade. He hasn’t achieved half of what Mane has achieved and he is DISRESPECTING the team by not honoring Friendlies an attitude that MANE or SALAH rarely act. Tell me what will happen when he wins Seria or even 1 award… unlike you, i don’t care about receiving Jerseys or Money from players. I am as neutral as possible |

Huh Please I hope you’ll be rooting for Ghana in Qatar sha. FYI - Ghana, Senegal, and Cameroon are Africa’s only hope in this World Cup. I don’t trust any of those Arab countries, they only know how to perform once they see Black Africans but they never don’t show up on the World stage. Expect Tunisia and Morocco to lay an egg again. So let’s put all rivalries aside for the next four weeks and go all in for Ghana, Cameroun, and Senegal. More than one African country needs to reach, at a minimum, the quarter finals this time around. O pari TheSuperNerd: |

Again, he is not disrespecting and has never disrespected the team. Victor showed up against small Sao Tome e principe while Okocha and martins back then were picking games vs Gabon. Lol Victor always gives 110% for Nigeria. Always. He puts himself in harm's way even just to make Nigerians happy whenever in the GWG. One of such times got him seriously injured and affected his first season at Napoli. And at bolded... You really have to stop bringing this stale line up. It makes you seem lazy and lame always referring to that to make your points valid. That you keep mentioning it almost everytime is testament to the hidden truth that "e dey pain you" and you really want yours. Proof that it really doesn't bother you is that you won't keep mentioning it again and again. And finally, Victor is on the verge of Greatness with Napoli. He is leading their Title Charge. Don't act like it won't matter to Nigerians to see Victor actually succeed in Italy before he leaves. You complain about Nigerians not yet at the level we once where in the Golden Generation but here is Victor having the kind of season that would get Nigeria a Ballon D'or nomination by the end of the 22/23 season and you are telling me it won't matter to Nigerian football?? Guy, you need to relax and forget about that Land you lost in that Ghana game alright. It's time to let go. BannedLarge: |

I stand with Morocco bruv. Even if they don't venture far, I am with them. They play better football than that Ghanaian team of Merceneries and Akwaaba crooners. Morocco have always been my Favorite African team after the Super Eagles. Outside Africa, it is Brazil and The Netherlands for me. Ghana isn't going beyond the first round. Cameroun too will not cross the first round. Senegal might. Morocco's chances are not clear but they might or might not. Icon79: |
