That's how you people condemn without making any effort to exploit an opportunity. When other people do and succeed, y'all start hating on them and blaming the innocent old woman in your village for casting a spell of misery over your lives.

You sound like a very lazy man.
it would be a herculean task to get that loan I promise you.. except this country changes getting loans from the govt remains a mirage...e.g THE nHF loan...anything that has to deal with the Nigerian demonic government is always stressful and discouraging..

Job is guaranteed after graduation in the US. Whether you work in your field or not. One thing is certain, job is guaranteed
.

Not exactly. And even if you get the job, your salary may not be enough for you.

So how will a student still jobless after five years of graduation in Nigeria be able to pay back the loan? Another program bound to be bankrupt and fail. If the government wants to give handouts to students, let it come out straight and say it’s student grants.

Good point.

True, but then again, in the US..a lot of people complain about student loans....to the point that Biden campaigned on forgiving them in 2020...only to find out once in office...e no easy.

Gov't that has no regards for education, passing students loan Bill's that they'll never implement before they leave office. But nevertheless, OBI will do much well on that. And I wouldn't want to hear "it was the legacy kept by Buhari 'APC.

Useless Apc government. They should Settle ASUU first...

The person deserves our blessings. This is a brilliant idea but they should also create jobs and enabling environments for businesses so as to enable the students to be able to pay back such loans.

Most Nigerians have criminal mindsets.

I hope they will be able to pay back after taking such loans.

Congratulations to future chop and runaway beneficiaries
Well said. Most Nigerians don't like to pay back loan. They are good at begging for help using religious sentiments but when it's time to pay back. That's when you will become the enemy.
Even most Nigerians in the US don't pay back student loans not to talk in Nigeria.

Good point.
You cannot be guaranteed a job in your field but you can work in many other places like in the service industry and others while you wait for your dream job. Whether your salary is enough or not, once you’re are tagged employed anywhere , government start taking out of your paycheck to service your student loan. Your salary doesn’t have to be enough for your lifestyle.

Gbajabiamila had argued in the proposed legislation that the hardship being faced by the unemployed and low-income earners coupled with the very high cost of living in Nigeria over the years made access to quality higher education difficult, stressful and in some cases impossible.

But this should be what we should solve not creating more reason blocks for our poor standard of living.

It's quite sad we don't have innovate assembly that handles bills that tactically address issues of poverty
Re: National Assembly Passes Students Loan Bill by MeineMutter: 2:58pm On Nov 23, 2022
Parts of the oil subsidy removed could go into this but we still need proper Identity Management System for so many things. Part of this is the identity of those taking these loans and how to make sure their is no compromise.

And make those in charge no go dey embezzle the fund o.
