Many of you just post without any knowledge backing up your posts. In the history of Nigerian politics, there are some states or regions that are strongholds and have never swayed. Rivers is one of them, Borno is another. Rivers has always been an NPN state, the equivalent today is PDP. Borno has always voted GNPP, even in the days of Shagari they never voted with the northern establishment. With the return of politics, they coalesced behind ANPP, they dont vote NPN or PDP in Borno!!! ANPP is now part of APC, Borno is a safe APC state. They always get 90%, even at the height of PDP rigging they never scored 10% in Borno. You forget Borno is Kanuri not Hausa/Fulani. They had their own separate empire called the Borno empire.

If there is any safe state in the north for Tinubu it is Borno!!! All their ex governors, sheriff, Shettima and current are all APC. Anyone telling you otherwise is trying to dupe you.

Actually it shows you dont know your political history. The problem with social media is that ignorant people are allowed to post.

Kaduna has always been a liberal state. In 1979 it was won by Aminu Kano’s PRP not NPN, in 1983 it went to NPN. So when we talk of safe states, kaduna is not historically a safe state for any party, it depends on the current dynamics. Under the present dispensation it has fallen under both PDP and APC.

No states are more safe in Nigeria since 1954 than Rivers and Borno. Any opposition there is wasting their time.

Like I said the problem with many of you is that you lack proper education particularly history.

You think politics started in 1999? Most political parties today are rehashes of previous parties. With the same followership and the same driving forces.

APGA is NPP which evolved from Zik’s NCNC

AD is UPN, which is a rebranded Action Group

PDP is the same old NPN which is the old NPC plus old Akinola faction and certain SE/SS (NCNC/NPP) alliance.

ANPP is GNPP of Waziri Ibrahim etc

PRP like Kola Abiola will tell you is the same PRP of Aminu Kano

All of them have their roots in the 1950s political parties.

APC is basically an amalgamation of Action group and the traditionally non-establishment Northern elements be it PRP, GNPP etc. somebody like El Rufai would likely have been in PRP. Remmember the northern establishment are fundamentally against Buhari, his popularity like Aminu Kano back in the day is derived from grass roots support. The Northern establishment are typically, NPC, NPN, PDP!!!

The major difference between the political parties of today and previous political parties is 1) Buhari acheived a formidable grassroots support in the North to buck the Northern establishment in a way the likes of Aminu Kano waziri ibrahim could not.
2) the alliance between the SW and the northern non establishment is a formidable one in a way not witnessed previously. Otherwise it’s the same actors, same principles at play…nothing has changed, even the SE are still largely playing the same regional politics (APGA) or playing second fiddle with the northern establishment politics (NCNC/NPN) they’ve always played! They are only losing out because their traditional partner the Northern establishment, is not the predominant force in Northern politics it used to be and they (the SE) are still playing politics according to the old template.

Asiwaju Is Working Again Like He Is The Underdog.

When Akeredolu was asked about the 2023 presidential race, he said that they await the return of the Capo de Tutti.

Fashola also said that we should wait for him to speak.

Then on January 10, 2022, Tinubu went to the presidential villa and informed the president of his intention to run. ‘I have the capacity, the competence to rule’. You can’t forget that.

That made him the first in his party to formally make his interest known.

And immediately after that, he started a broad based national consultations, the kind that we have never seen before in a party’s presidential primary.

Tinubu did not sleep!

He was the most popular man in the party after the president who isn’t running yet he worked like he’s the least known.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu left no stone unturned in his elaborate nationwide consultations right from that January 10.

While others were dragging to declare, Tinubu was already on the field working and working very hard. Before they could finally declare, Asiwaju already had over 50% of the delegates either adhoc or statutory on his side.

He was not waiting to be imposed.

That was never in his plan.

Some ministers did not want to resign even after declaring which was against the new Electoral Law until the president held a meeting with them and asked those who were interested in running to resign. And even after that meeting, it was only Nwajuiba that resigned almost immediately. Others wanted to eat their cake and still have it. Chris Ngige in particular became a joke.

Amaechi also wanted to run but he was not open enough. He said that he wanted to hold a thanksgiving service at Adokie Ameisemaka stadium only to turn the thanksgiving to his presidential declaration. And for the second time, I was disappointed in him. I was disappointed because I did not understand why he was not truthful enough to call it his presidential contest declaration in the first instance. I received many calls on Oshiomole attending the declaration but my reply to the callers was that Amaechi invited him for a thanksgiving and Oshiomole honoured the invitation so if he changed it to a declaration, he was only deceiving himself.

The declaration by Ahmad Lawan was an afterthought. He had earlier told Tinubu that there was no need for him to come and inform them at the National Assembly that he was running because he already had their full support.

The vice president wanted to run but he was not bold enough to throw in the hat. He called his supporters sponsored speculators for promoting his ambition. He said that it’s all rumours but he later declared one night after we’d all gone to bed.

As all these and many more were going on, Tinubu had gotten more converts to his side.

And we saw how his hardwork paid off.

The same scenario is playing out going to the general election.

He won his party’s ticket in June and immediately he got it, he started consultations for the general election too. He has only taken 10 days off in London since then.

His party drew a campaign timetable which they have been following and any time that there’s a review, it is announced.

Tinubu has met with the business community that had in attendance Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu, Herbert Wigwe etc.

He went to Minna to meet with representatives on Nigerian farmers.

He also met with the solid mineral community and miners and investors in Lafia.

He was at Owerri and had a town hall meeting with leaders of private sector and organized trade associations.

He has also met with the Christian Association of Nigeria in Abuja.

Between Dec 4 and 12, he will be abroad for international engagements.

On Dec 2, he is billed to meet with the organised private sector in Lagos and on Dec 21, he would have a meeting with the creative art practitioners.

I did not list the Kaduna town hall meeting with Arewa leaders because he did not arrange it, he was an invitee like other candidates. So there was no oversight.

Who has Atiku, his major challenger met?

A man who sows cassava will not reap agbado.

There is a reward for diligence.

There is a reward for good and proper planning and execution.

There is a reward for meaningful consultations.

There is a reward when the most favoured still works like he is the underdog.

If you don’t know and people who know are educating you…keep quiet!!!

People defect, politicians have always defected. Even Akintola Fani Kayode and many who joined forces with Balewa were initially in AG, Akintola was Awo’s deputy. Adisa Akinloye who became chairman of NPN was initially an ally and member of AG in fact he was the one who led other members of the Ibadan peoples party to switch alliance to Awo and cross the aisle to make Awo premier over Zik. Richard Akinjide of the famous 12.2/3rds that made Shagari president and later served as attorney general under Shagari was initially in AG. They all left to form NNDP and formed alliance with Balewa. Defections did not start in 1999 but the essence of the parties remains the same.

There have always been unstable politicians jumping from party to party from the 1st republic to today. There are also politicians that have never left their parties. In fact there are some old school politicians who have consistently been in AG,UPN, AD, ACN, APC and never left, just like there are those who have been in NPC,NPN,PDP or NCNC, NPP,APGA and never defected. The fact that you have people jumping from Party to party does not negate the history of those parties, people have always defected. Most of the time you will find that defectors were coalition / junior/fringe partners..not always but often and so by nature are unstable.

I don’t need your fake story if you talk like someone who was not around. SDP and NRC do not count because they were artificial parties created by Babangida. But even so you will notice a trend.

You are not talking like someone with any brain cells. Core UPN are not in APC, where them are they? Do you expect the true Awo disciples to still be in politics?
