FEGEITOK: Buy a timer like the one you see here: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mORz2e0 It's less than $10. You can set the time to come on and go off whenever you fancy. Cheers There is also a proximity sensor bulb holder for keeping the lights on when someone is near here https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0MP0Y8 That is if you don't wanna go the DIY route. 2 Likes |

Hello house. So I got interested in getting a high wattage solar inverter due to my future needs/load - a 10kva 48V one. I don't want to buy anything less due to the natural tendency to keep upgrading. Current budget will be able to make that possible along with a maximum of 4 350W panels and 4 12V 250Ah deep cycle gel batteries (already got the panels, batteries and inverter) along with a 100A MPPT charge controller. Couldn't afford the lithium ones for now. Problem is I don't know the voltage of the panels so I'm confused on what arrangement to go with for a start. Series or parallel? Especially knowing I'll be adding to those panels with time. From what I've read so far on the thread, I deduced the batteries should be connected in series to get that 48V. PS: I'm not DIYing, but hiring some engineers who have just a little bit of experience in solar installations. Hence the questions. |

AinsSama: What are the specs of the charge controller and also the name/maker? You will see the specs on the container or inside the manual. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Oshomo12(m): 2:26am On Nov 30, 2022 |
emmy9500: Lol with such a budget/materials already!!! My oga you don cut enough!! I will not use that controller anyway. I should advise you to get a better charge controller, but I will be restricted to do so. Cos, you are looking for how to cut costs. You want to spend 340k on batteries and you intend to kill it with a 30k controller? Nà wà ó 1 Like |

Please who repairs inverters in Port Harcourt? I have this Transformer based inverter that's been installed somewhere a couple of years now. Yesterday, I was told the lights started flickering and they were seeing a red glow like something burning inside the inverter (no smell though).

Is there any reason u want to pull 2,500w out of 2 lead acid batteries? I don't no ur load but There are flaws in the quotation. Cause I think A 2.5kva inverter with continuous power of 2kw n surge of 6kw will handle ur load just 5n n u'll get 1 for 150k. D charge controller is pwm n u won't get optimal conversion from ur panels go for powmr. Someone here has some units... 1 is 62k (last I checked). I'll advice u get 2 400w panels(800w) for 200k than 4 200w(also 800w) for 240k. If ure in Lagos u can get 6mm cables in alaba for 1k/yd. The change over is too big. Buy d medium 100a type. U won't b pulling more than 10a through it after all. It's 2k. Don't no why he's getting big PVC. The normal PVC will accommodate 16mm cable just 5n. It's 400 for 1 trunk. U can't use more than 2. The components connection cable is too low for N900/yd. U need 16mm n it's 2200/yd.. 3-4yd max. U need to components close to each other. If u can up ur budget small. U can still get 130a lifepo4 battery 8 pieces (400k) plus 40k BMS. This will save u from buying battery capacity monitor, battery rack, watching out for 50% DOD n change d battery in 2-3 years of use. emmy9500: 6 Likes 1 Share |

AinsSama: your plan is seriousLY flawed, only 4 batteries on a 10kva non hybrid inverter?... the no load consumption of the inverter alone will run down 2 batteries in a day...so technically what you have is just 2 batts?....n this ur upgrade plane...being leadacid batt u went and bought...so u now intend to be adding batteries to the 4 batteries u have already-- another fatal flaw... if you have big loads, you shud hv a corresponding deep budget to go with it, if not...it will end in disaster. 16 batteries is the minimum you shud have if you are going for 10kva inverter....if not just get a 2kva or 3kva 48v inverter simple. alternatively you shud hv bought a lithium pack, say 14 to 20kwh, then when funds come..you can add another. lastly, how did u arrive at the conclusion that you need a 10kva inverter 1 Like |

ojeysky: This stuff is huge man. Height 77cm by Width 47cm by Dept 30cm. Take your tape and draw up this size and see what it looks like. I should have opted for 2x 8kw Over big dey worry this 16kw |

earthrealm: Current load is 1.5HP AC - the power saving type, 240W Gaming Laptop, 100W 50" TV, over 20 15-30W light bulbs, water heater. Additional TVs may be added in the near future, at least 2 DC standing fans, and possibility to add, 1 or 2 more ACs. Electricity is fine for now but certainly not sufficient hence the few batteries and poor but cheaper battery choice |

Jefferyzz:Though the day time loads aren't stated but charging 5280wh tubular battery bank to daily float from 800w pv will be difficult unless grid will give 70% support while pv will give 30% support. If not 1600w pv should be considered. |

AinsSama:Sir, I advice you take your time and plan well by consulting widely. Solar is not about throwing money about but rather making every money you spend count. If you're not on budget and you intend to enjoy energy independent, then plan for 10kw inverter, over 3m 28kwh Lfp battery, huge pv and other accessories. But if you're on budget as electricity is good in your area, 14kwh Lfp battery, 5kw inverter, about 4kw pv and accessories will solve the listed problem only if you can have a handle on your inductive loads and other loads adjustment. You may do proper audit by designing your loads... Give time for individual loads to turn on and off. My newbie advice..... Cheer 2 Likes |
