There's enough evidence to prove this. There are DNA evidences to prove the relation we have with these species. Moreover, we have enough fossil record to also link our ancestry to this.

What are the characteristics of Apes?

3. padded digits with fingerprints: only apes have fingerprints. Koalas also have fingerprints however do not meet other criteria to be classified as Apes.

4. Unlike other primates, Apes do not have tails.

So humans have all the characteristics of a primate which has fallen within a superfamily called Hominoidea (Ape)
