Hardly is there any country, no matter how developed, that doesn't have villages.

Morocco has many villages where farmers settle to attend to their farms. While driving from Rabat to Tangier, most of the roads were decorated on both sides by banana plantations, managed by small agrarian villages. So, yes they have villages.

But these villages have access to basic life amenities like constant power, health care centers, basic education etc. Call 911 from their remotest village and see they respond to you instantly.

I went through the Sahara. I won't forget how we almost got buried under the dunes when we had a vehicular breakdown in the middle of this ocean of sand. It became "haram" to even dare to think of a blink not to reason a nap. It was a constant battle with the elements all through the duration of our truck getting stuck in the sinking sands of the Sahara.

The Sahara was where we learned the art of going green as far back as 1998, by recycling our urine to keep us hydrated when we had run out of water.

The excessively dehydrated ones amongst us with no liquid left to pass out and recycle will find a corner to defecate and afterward go on a meticulous inspection and analysis of their waste in search of the dollar bills they had banked up in their bowels through their rectum and would beg with a $50 or $100 bill to sip someone else's urine to stay hydrated and alive.

Seeing the shepherd with his flock brings back memories of how the first water I came upon having made it through the desert after 3 long days and nights was of a shepherd guarding his flock while they drank from a dirty water trough mixed with the animal's feces and possibly a good doze of urine to boot.

Seeing how dehydrated and close to death we had come, I dove straight for the water trough to attempt a scoop and in the process mistakenly shoved one of the sheeps/goats. Wetin I hear for my head na kpoi for head from the herdsman...the herdsman whip me him shepherd stick for head oh as i don decide to behave like one of him goats/sheeps.

Keep resting in peace my fallen desert warriors...never shall we forget.

The dysfunctional society called Nigeria that drove us all into this suicide mission in 1998 isn't only dysfunctional today 24 years down the line, it has become the definition of everything a country and a functional society shouldn't attempt to be in all indices. Sad....

However, no matter the frustration, hunger, hardship, please, I beg una, do not, and I repeat, make una no try this suicide mission oh.

Aside being a hobby, traveling to new places, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people, has been one of the biggest sources of inspiration and exposure to me. Every travel opportunity, by air, land or sea, comes along with its life lessons, good or bad.

I was recently privileged to travel to Morocco with for some crucial meetings and researches.

Our trip to Morocco, beyond opening doors of new experiences unto me, resurrected in me the age long question, "which way Nigeria?"

Why does it seem like any Nigerian who gets the opportunity to experience life beyond the borders always comes to the conclusion that anywhere is better than here? One cannot but admire how other countries, that have no meeting point with Nigeria in terms of resources, wealth and influence, end up living in well organised manners and growing happily in their pace and space, while Nigeria continues to swing between poverty and insecurity and whatever bad you can think of. Aside having traveled to some European countries, I have visited a couple of African countries, and my position is the same - Nigeria lags behind in all fronts of existence

Do we talk about the depressing level of corruption and financial imprudence that has crippled our economy? Or the disheartening level of insecurity that has kept everyone on edge, rich and poor alike. Do we begin to mention the poverty rate, unemployment rate, political rascality, under development, poor quality of health and education - everything that can ever go wrong in a nation is found in our nation, in large quantities. And we are the giant of Africa - giant in societal ills, sufferings and deaths!

Enough of Nigeria and its wahala biko! Back to our trip to Morocco.

Culture and ethnic/racial demographics play major roles in nation-building and cohesion. The vast majority of cultures in Nigeria are not pragmatic, egalitarian, enterprising, hard-working and promote integrity. Additionally, Nigeria has too many ethnic groups, creating a divisive society full of mistrust, disharmony and disunity. Looking at examples globally, the most successful/prosperous societies are those where the dominant ethnic/racial group promotes pragmatism, egalitarianism, entrepreneurship, hard work and integrity. In return, the most homogenous out of them tend to be the most successful, peaceful and safest as this homogeneity endears trust, peace and harmony. Examples abound globally and within Africa. So if you expect component parts of Nigeria to be prosperous, you know what should be done.

Interesting thread! ... like the narrative .... taking us along on the ride ... very descriptive.... photos a bit hazy.... not sure if it's the heat... or the conditions outside. But when it comes to the breakfast menu ... I'm not sure if conditions are better... or you took time out to clean the lens to make sure we get mouth watering crystal clear photos of the breakfast spread. But is ok. No point wondering why Nigeria with an abundance of natural resources is in a sorry state .... and don't blame the leaders either ... after all ... they were elected by us .... did no good ... and re elected again to do worse. We elect the next one who does the same... and here we are in 2022 ... with instant knowledge at our fingertips ... and suffering and insecurity in our face... and we are busy trying to elect a half senile man to be our leader. We the people are responsible for our demise.

No doubt the place looks clean... organized etc ... but what about the people? ... is the place busy?... noisy?... much traffic?... or people pretty much keep to themselves?

Thank you for reading sir, I am glad you enjoyed the story. My pictures did absolutely no justice to beauty spread through the country. I agree.

Talking about the people, I didn't have much time to really mix up and interact with the locals. However, the few I encountered were nice. I remember walking past a fruits shop while taking photos, the fruits seller signalled me to come and have some fruits, knowing that I was a foreigner.

On the streets, people minded their individual businesses. Take away their Arabian dresses, you would think that everyone on the street are all Europeans, by their lifestyle and habits.

I did not meet a single traffic jam on the road, even though the country is the highest producer of cars in Africa, with 75% of the raw materials sourced locally. Bikes and bicycles are also used by many as means of transport, in addition to trains.

In terms of human traffic, the streets were not busy, except for different fun spots that dotted the country, especially in Rabat. Tangier was mostly quite.

In addition to their dorty nature, Kurruption abounds wherever you find an Arab man.

Why don't they accept and build their brothers that are dying of cold at the polish borders.

Despite how rich Qatar, Saudi, Kuwait etc is , their brothers still prefer migrating to Europe for a better life.

u are funny. Your last statement is ridiculous when even our neighbors In Benin have constant supply of electricity, u are now talking of a place in Nigeria. There are many more countries that have better infrastructures than Nigeria and not just those 2 u mentioned.

I think the problem with our country Nigeria is the issue of disunity and diversity. No country in the world with too many tribals and ethenicity that have ego will ever develope.


My prayer is that we get it right but am afraid there is no solution to Nigeria problems right now, not even in the next 5 decades
