Efo riro goes with anything like rice ,wheat ,poundo, semo any kind of eba, even lafun self follow amala. now you will be amazed efo riro makes you a thief when you take it with garri and water I mean when you soak garri in water with your mom cooked efo riro right in your front.and to kill it all have u tried efo riro with bread I mean with agege bread ehn ge ge also slice bread follow body shake.am a trench kid.

Nne ooooooo. It tastes so good, I found a solution to Iru for you, wash it before using.
No smell at all but good flavours.

The uniqueness of iru is in its smell, same as ogiri igbo and fufu. grin

The vegetable seems overblanched. It is not supposed to come out dark after blanching. Typical efo riro leaves must come out ‘greeny’ yet tender and gentle on the mouth. The blanching technique, is the most crucial aspect to preparing efo riro.

I will have enough of this soup this dry season with the abundance of the shoko..

Precooking the shoko before adding to the soup broth, won't it kind of reduce the nutritional value of the shoko leaf?

The leaf used is the Shoko leaves.

I usually don't blanch or pre cook my vegetables but I found out the original owners pre cook the leaves for this particular dish.

Shoko contains lots of water and tends to turn the soup watery and change the soup colour when used in large quantities, though I will like to know more reasons too.

I have used Shoko without precooking and it turned out very well too.

I like your contributions, it makes me want to do more research.
