I've read where some female herbalists are involved in ritual acts, some are even caught with human parts

What you read somewhere about a female herbalist is not enough to label anyone who's an herbalist a voodoo practitioner or "ritualist" as you have called it.

The word, herbalist, has been so bastardized in these parts by some uninformed pastors, who have in their various churches brainwashed their congregation with the wrong thing, and also by local newspaper reporters, who should know better, but don't even bother to confirm the true identity of the culprit whose story they are reporting, before tagging them herbalist, thereby leaving the ignorant Nigerian public with the wrong impression that an herbalist is a witchcraft practitioner or "ritualist" .This is very wrong.

It's a known fact that most Nigerian newspapers and magazines are replete with all manner of grammatical blunders and wrong word usage; Nigerian English.

So one shouldn't depend on anyone of them for correct word usage or proper grammar.You would be taught the wrong thing.


Voodoo practitioners ( juju priests) in Nigeria and elsewhere who mostly use human body parts for money rituals, usually have as part of their training, the knowledge of certain herbs which they use, if the need arises, for the treatment and management of the illnesses of those who seek their help.They combine the two different practices as one.

This is why it's not uncommon to find a juju practitioner who also double as an herbalist.

But then, we have lots of trained herbalist everywhere who don't engage in any kind of malevolent voodoo or juju practices of any kind. Those ones, treat and manage the illnesses of those who consult them without combining it with any kind of. voodoo.

Unfortunately, average Nigerians have been miseducated to think that every herbalist must be a juju practitioner or "ritualist" as they like to call them.

I have at various times in the past encountered both those who combine juju with herbal practices and also those who specialised only on local herbs for the treatment and management of certain illnesses.

So ,I know the difference to know who to deal with and who to avoid among the two groups of practitioners.

Those who combine juju or voodoo, (they are the same thing) with herbal practices may unconsciously drag you into what you're not ready for.

During the height of the covid-19 pandemic, most Nigerians were combining different local herbal remedies, garlic, ginger, agbo, etc, to manage what the feared might by symptoms of the virus.

Does it mean then that everyone who did that was involved in juju or what we commonly call rituals?

Voodooism is not the same as herbalism. People should know the difference and stop the wrong tagging of those who are pure herbalist.

True Christianity brought pure worship which has separated faithful people from faithless ones so when pagans are protesting, complaining, cursing and fighting against themselves due to the uncertainty of their future {Matthew 24:7-8 compare to Revelations 6:3-4} we are calmly and faithfully looking forward to God's Kingdom.
