Never before had a team been awarded so many penalties at a WC. Always at key moments. Always controversial. No red cards despite being a volatile, combative team. Officials rarely penalised clinical fouls. Often the opponent destabilised after having such decisions against.

Going into the tournament there was a wave of support and a bandwagon for Messi to win the WC. It even played in the minds of opposition players who had been fed the narrative LM has to be a Champion or it upsets everyone. The propaganda was unavoidable as it was everywhere.

Portugal lost against a little African country like Morocco but we didn't hear how FIFA helped Morocco win the match instead Messi was even blamed by most Portugal players.

France equalise 2 goals in less than 5mins but we didn't hear FIFA helped them neither did we hear how FIFA helped Saudi defeat Argentina in their first match... The world cup is done and dusted and we now have a new champion for the next 4yrs abeg.

FIFA told that france player to miss that last minute chance in the final, FIFA told france and Holland players to miss their Penalty. Please this competition was littered with so many referee errors, like Foul on saka before france first goal vs england, morocco not getting a Penalty against france etc. Move on from this matter.
