Andonni Local Government Area of Rivers state have elephants in it's thick forest. Sometimes the elephants stray into the communities say hi to the locals.

Months ago, an elephant was seen in Ngo community. I opine that such an animal should be taken to The zoo at slaughter/Okujagu for animal conservation and tourist sight seeing.

You mean the tourist op or who?

If you're really passionate about the animal, go to Jos and fight for it or what's the name of what you did there with your post?
Wait, you looked at that animal and think it's living healthy? Man, that elephant will fare better in the wild. Or you just want to talk?

Ilorin is known historically known as Ilu Erin. In English it is translated as the City of Elephants because that is where Elephants converge.
But now if you see squirrel in Ilorin you will be grateful. embarassed
Aba is known as enyimba city meaning 'the place of elephants'. My dad told me elephants roamed the the forests on the outskirts of Aba in the distant past. Today there are no more forests for them. They've migrated to the Niger delta areas.

To me I am of the opinion that it should be left in it's natural habitat. I don't like animals being imprisoned in zoo. As much as zoo has its advantage of preventing pooshing, but the truth is, research has shown that animals tends to do better when kept in it's natural space. The last time I visited the Port Harcourt zoo, the animals were looking malnourished. I really do not know if things have changed now that Wike has refurbished the place.

When I saw the topic of the thread, what came to my mind was Jos... Although I know there are others at Yankari game reserve, during those Boko haram time... I don't know if they are still alive

By the way, someone should tell UNN to get a lion in their zoo, even small Obasanjo library zoo has both a lion and a lioness

That's not what I asked you. Where can African elephants you mentioned be found in Africa?

These images, courtesy Wikipedia should help you understand my point.
That is the distribution of the Loxodonta genus in Africa.
The bush elephant prefers the grassland while the forest elephant roams the tropical rainforest, and are more populated in Cameroon. They stroll into Nigeria and might be spotted in little herds or singly once in a while. Evidences of residential herds in Nigeria is scarce. Habitat loss and habitat fragmentation has driven them beyond human sighting.
Lastly, it doesn't matter where they are found; Cameron, Gabon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria..... taxonomically, they are still called African bush or African forest elephants. They are not named by the country where they are found.

Offpoint and irrelevant grammar. My question is very simple, where can African elephants be found in Africa?

After checking Google I got below

Kainji Lake National Park and Yankari Game Reserve is where they are now!

Seriously these are big parks and Game reserves! In the real wild life roaming freely I doubt they exist here in Nigeria

If Those Animals Aren't kept In Zoos they Will Be Extinct Just Like The Cheetah that Once Roamed Nigeria, it Is The Only Way To Save Them By Protecting them From Poachers, if Not The Future Generation Might Not Even Know They existed In Their Land. And Even If U Release Them Into The Wild Now they Will Be Killed so We Have To Keep Them In The Zoos until Nigerians become Aware Of What They Are Causing By Eating Almost every Animal They See like Rats Snakes Elephants Lions Pangolins etc. By The Way Lions Are Almost Extinct In Nigeria.

I don't know where you are driving at. The images I shared are relatively understandable. I also named countries where these species are found in Africa. Those countries I mentioned in my previous response are not in Asia, Europe or America.
Perhaps, you did not read the response
