omonnakoda:Wages are usually calculated on a hourly or weekly basis (like a get paid as you work scheme), while salaries are usually paid at the end of the calendar month. Imagine your employers paying you at the end of each working day or at the end of each working week. |

Ibechris2:Hard lesson for fiscal discipline: get a lone on the salary and invest it. Repayment will teach you fiscal discipline and reward you at the end. Successful people do this. |

omonnakoda:Bros, you're free to consult the internet and read up on it. This is something I've known for a long time and it's common knowledge. Wages are actually fixed on a hourly or sometimes daily rate, meaning that you only get paid for the period you're at work. Salaries are only fixed but not with regards to hourly work. e.g As a worker collecting wages, I won't get payment for Sunday if I didn't come to work on Sunday. If I work for 4 hours then I'll get paid for it and not more except if I work overtime (a good example of this is a bricklayer working as a labourer on a construction site, he/she usually gets paid at the end of each working day or at most at the end of the week. If he only comes to work for 28 days then he'll only get payment for 28 days). Salary earners get paid the same amount even when there's an holiday and they couldn't come to work (a vivid example of this is a teacher. Teachers are paid the same amount at the end of every month even when the number of days they work each month is different. Teachers may work for 21 days in some months or 23 days in others yet they get paid the same amount. Meaning that there's no direct link between the hours used at work and the pay, they always get paid a fixed amount per pay period which is usually monthly). "Please pardon, the lack of paragraph or coherence in my reply" I pray you understand the example given o. |

Dybala11:The fact that you have been ignorant for ever does not validate it You spent a lot of words to expose your ignorance Wages and salaries are the same thing. Stop arguing blindly Just open a dictionary and give it a rest. There is no such thing as all the rubbish you just made up So when they say the wages of sin is death they mean you will die weekly? It is funny how people talk rubbish and go to extreme lengths to justify their rubbish |

omonnakoda:Oh my fvcking goodness, I didn't know that I was having a discussion with a dingbat. I shouldn't be surprised though, since you don't even know that footballers collect wages and not salaries to start with. ![]() Why not take your time and read up about it before you come here to show your ignorance. So workers on construction sites also get paid salaries and a fixed amount of money irrespective of whether they're at work or not?? Are you saying that teachers in government schools and labourers get the same structure of payment?? Too much ignorance in one person. ![]() |

omonnakoda:Which dictionary?? Below is the definition of wages and salaries according to Merriam Webster dictionary. ![]() Wage: a payment usually of money for labor or services usually according to contract and on an hourly, daily, or piecework basis Salary: fixed compensation paid regularly for services. Your ignorant self did not even wait to understand the meaning of the statement before you started displaying your ignorance up and down on a public forum. To fool Nigerians, all you have to do is put your ideas in writings and most won't even bother to have the basic understanding of the idea before jumping upandan like a bitch on heat. ![]() |

Dybala11:Fixed compensation paid regularly The regularity can be weekly daily or whatever Wages and salary are the same thing, whether you call it remuneration or any other word they are the same so stop arguing blindly and foolishly |

omonnakoda:I said HOURLY or WEEKLY rate dingbat. You've been screaming about an imaginary dictionary definition since and you're yet to provide a source to your dubious claim. I've already provided you with the definition of each term as found in the Merriam Webster dictionary, since you made mention of the dictionary definition. You don't even have the basic understanding of the keywords before you started to brought that Bible verse. The statement "for the wages of sin is death" means that the payment for all the sins you committed is death. Don't quote the Bible out of context. ![]() I'll drop the link to a source for you again if you're faking that you didn't see what I wrote up there. ![]() https://www.accountingtools.com/articles/what-is-the-difference-between-salary-and-wages.html |

omonnakoda:Gracious God, too much ignorance in one person. ![]() Please show me the dictionary that said both terms mean the same. You don't even understand the meaning of the word, remuneration to start with. Both salaries and wages are payment/remuneration. Get educated bros. Jezzzzzzz. ![]() Below is the Merriam Webster dictionary definition of the terms:- (1) Wage: a payment usually of money for labor or services usually according to contract and on an HOURLY, DAILY, or PIECEWORK basis. (2) Salary: fixed compensation paid regularly for services Below is the Cambridge dictionary definition of the terms (1) Salary: a fixed amount of money agreed every year as pay for an employee, usually paid directly into his or her bank account every month. (2) Wages: a particular amount of money that is paid, usually every WEEK, to an employee, especially one who does work that needs PHYSICAL SKILLS or strength, rather than a job needing a college education. Below is another source talking about one of the differences between the two terms https://grammar.collinsdictionary.com/english-usage/what-is-the-difference-between-salary-and-wages |

| Re: Now I Know Salary Is For Bills Only. by omonnakoda: 5:35pm On Dec 25, 2022 |
Dybala11:Too long Wage = Payment = Salary Even your own source contradicts your blind and foolish argument Wages are the same as salaries Continue searching for sources to justify your meaningless argument I stick to fixed regular payment . Usually does not mean always There is nothing in the definition that fixes the regularity interval. NOTHING!! |

omonnakoda:This dingbat wants to start using semantics. Oya show me an example of an employer in Nigeria that pays the salary of their workers at the end of each day/week?? Bricklayers on construction sites and other skilled labours like footballers are paid wages and not salaries, teachers are usually paid salaries oftentimes. Of course you can collect wages as a teacher e.g as a part-time teacher. Your blatant show of ignorance is amusing bro. You should add this to the list of things you've learnt now. ![]() |

omonnakoda:Do you even know the meaning of the world "USUALLY" or "OFTEN". It means most times bro. ![]() You want to tell us that something that USUALLY or OFTEN occur is less common than one that RARELY or UNUSUALLY occur?? Jezz, who's your English language teacher. You surely need to demand for a refund from him/her since you're this dumb. ![]() |
| Re: Now I Know Salary Is For Bills Only. by omonnakoda: 5:51pm On Dec 25, 2022 |
Dybala11:Semantics is what we have been discussing all along Good morning The point is that Nothing in the dictionary meaning dictates the interval of payment That is subject to discussion and agreement The key issue is that a wage or salary is a payment for work given at regular intervals Whether daily , weekly monthly or whatever does not make any difference Salary has is origin /etymology in Latin and referred to payments to soldiers to buy SAL( salt) which was very valuable then It is not about the interval of payment It is just a REGULAR payment at fixed intervals. Wages on the other hand has its etymology in Anglo-Germanic That is all Wages and Salaries are the same |
