Yes it depends on how it's used. Notice you never hear about French tribe, English tribe, Italian and German tribe and so on....

Yeah. Definitely depends on how it's used.

True I've never seen those people addressed as a tribe; I've only ever seen factions of people that live in those countries as 'tribe'. E.g, the aborigines, the native Indians, some Scottish or Scandinavian people...

A large ethnic nation like yoruba can not just be referred to as a tribe. It's derogatory... Remember that Yorubas are not just in Nigeria but also Benin Republic, Togo and Ghana. We are indigenous in those countries too.. pls check the Yorubaland map on google, you should not forget that the reason we're spread across several countries today is because of the Berlin Conference where Europeans created all these African countries...

Oh, yeah.

I know of the Berlin conference, and how they divided and 'jampacked' different people together.

Although, I'd always thought all Yorubas were together in one place...

Okay. They were. They actually were. grin grin

It was the sharing that made it look as if Yorubas are in 3 different countries.

Normally, if there was to be a Yoruba nation, the map would have cut across some present West African nations.

And I have families in Benin Republic o.

Thinking of it now, we are all technically Yorubas, and I should not be of dual-citizenry...

Yes that was before the internet age .. before the social media age ..

Lagos was the formal place to blow.. then they control media

Today
Lagos still na t her place to blow ?

People blow via different social media ..
no one need to enter Lagos before e blow

Do good music .. and you blow ..

Kennis music is outdated ..

All those humans rip niggas off the street ..

Abi sabinus need Yoruba media yo blow ?

Time and chance .. not Lagos Yoruba propaganda

Tell me any artist wey blow wey no dey Lagos or any skit maker? Even sabinus had to run to Lagos to stay relevant...
The real deal is that Yoruba language phonology and way of life (asa ati ishey) makes it easy for the to penetrate every corners of entertainment...
Oya take for instance styl plus and Dare Art Alade moved to Abuja thinking they will blow, despite how do they were, dem no blow... So just forget it, Lagos is the entertainment capital in africa and yoruba language represents the face of entertainment ..... Mention the leading stars in Naija over the years, they are all yoruba or with touch or yoruba

'Tribal' 'Primitive' 'Chief', if you understand the history of White supremacists colonizers in Africa you'll understand why those words are mostly used for Africans and not in their own continent.... The English stock is less than Yoruba population, the Danish, french,Polish are less than Yorubas.. even the small Welsh people are never called 'tribe'. How can people say yoruba is a tribe?? We are globally more than 60M. If we were in Europe we would be on top 4 most populated nation. Our population is more than Ghana lol...

Yes the Berlin conference was a very unfortunate one that brought calamities like Nigeria into existence. Ethnic groups that has nothing in common were brought together. It's called clash of civilizations, this is one major reason why there's so much tribalism in Africa and the continent is not progressing.... Yorubas are across several African countries.. We are the 2nd largest ethnic group in Benin Republic and one of the largest in Togo. There are also Yorubas in Ghana, Ivory coast,Sierra Leone and Gambia..Google it up you will understand that we are a lot in this part of the world.

Of course you have to rest. Because you're not making any sense

Asgard 73:
Yoruba will always create propaganda to hype themselves knowing their market value keep devaluating ..

Imagine the lamba from the op..

So now as Yoruba the use their language the make noise .. be say Twitter and the rest social media na Yoruba

Butterflies wey they always think themselves mountain eagles

Very funny

I am not making any sense?

So if I get you right, you say lamba is a Swahili word for "lick", which means Asgard here was talking about licking?

What Asgard was saying with the bolded is "imagine the kind of LICK from the op?" Or the op is licking? Imagine the licking from the op? Abi?

Okay.

If lamba lolo means orál sëx, fuvking, or telling someone to fuvk off, how exactly does that fit into this context? A discussion about culture and its diffusion?

Somebody is definitely saying nonsense amongst the three of us, and I am sure it is not me, though.

Insert your meaning of lamba in that bolded line and see how it reads.

He only changed his stance when he was heavily called out. That makes him a sneaky person cos I saw his post where he claimed some are trying to control lagos economically (we all know the tribe that is notorious for this statement). He also said some are laying claims to it historically. That old and useless bini story igbos propagate.

They never asked themselves why bini uses "obaship" title. Oba of Bini is a descendant of the Yoruba. Even their elite class like obaseki family etc belongs to us.

How does oba of bini owns lagos? Which history? If it he does, is Oba himself not from the yoruba lineage forced on the igodomigodo people by the yorubas?
The Obaseki family is from Nsukwa in present day Delta state. Nsukwa is an Igbo town in delta state, stop talking like a garrulous ignorant palm wine drunk

He is more interested in gagging people from airing their opinions online than the actual debate. I don't know what's making him feel so uneasy though. Admitting a fact or praising another ethnicity doesn't remove anything from mine. But trust Nigerians to always go the parochial tribal way at the expense of objectivity.

I like u Magnoliaa (pls, no offense). I just do since I discovered u on this thread, perhaps because of your mannerism and intelligence (which attracts me btw). No offense in telling u abi?

Absolutely.

Even as much as I am a proud Yoruba and I'm defending the culture here, I am still honest enough about the fact that there are varying degrees of Igbophobia in the country. And I also respect the fact that Igbos are great business people.

Now I believe there are two "kinds" of Yorubas sef- The Yorubas and Tinubu's supporters. Because it is so hard for me to reconcile the progressiveness of Yorubas that this thread has shown with the relic type of die-hard support urchins are giving to Baba ****** alagbado, lmao. cheesy
