Reacting to Osuntokun’s appointment, Arabambi in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, opposed Prof Osuntokun’s appointment due to his membership of Zenith Labour Party ZLP.

He said “In my capacity as the National Publicity Secretary of Labour Party, I am opposing the announcement of Prof Akin Osuntokun as the DG Labour Party Campaign Organisation because at present, he is the Senatorial candidate of Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, Ekiti State and in the February 25, 2023, National Assembly election.

The new DG is indeed a ZLP candidate for the Ekiti Central senatorial zone elections in 2023.

bro no conflict of interest in naija politics. All these politicians port from one party to another so that is immaterial. Zenith labour party and labour party are almost the same. But in a serious note, campaign council is not a political party and not recognize by law. Anybody can be appointed into the council by the presidential candidate. Check through list of the names in all the campaign councils of all the major political parties, there so many non party members in the lists.

DG of a party is not the party's Candidate. He is just a person entrusted to a role to provide strategic and tactical direction as well as mange the resources of the campaign to win election for his candidate.

He is not required by law to even belong to the same party he is the DG.

Dele Momodu was once in the campaign trail of John Mahama, a former Ghananian president without belonging to the Ghananian political party.

One can even hire Axelrod of US to come pilot the campaign.

So PO has a liberty to employ an APC or PDP member to be his DG. Bashorun belonging to ZLP has no relevance to his current party. He has since resigned as a member of ZLP although Inec still retains his name as a senatorial candidate.
