Your conclusion in the first paragraph makes no scriptural sense at all, this is because Salvation— a transition from living under God's Old Law to living instead under God's New Covenant and Law — is only possible for those who are born-again. And as Jesus Christ made clear in the context of John 3 vs 1 - 8 that to be born-again, one must be born of water and born of the spirit. Additionally, your submission regarding Paul's statement recorded in 1 Corinthians 1:14 is unfounded. If you read again, and process carefully this time, what Paul in fact stated in the context you would find that he was instead expressing gladness of sorts that none men have seen fit to make a god of him for baptizing them.
