Any one has Knowledge In rescheduling appointment on the Nigerian immigration passport appointment website? Last time I went I was bounce back on the point of doing my biometric due to the fact of contradicting date of birth on my NIN which I have successfully corrected now but I am finding it difficult to reschedule my appointment as it brings out my previous appointment and says duplicate booking which shouldn’t to be so. Anyone experience such before?

My people, una do well o, thanks for all ur advice, drove 75 miles to and from work, made several wrong turns and some mistakes, but in all I'll give myself a pass mark. We go again tomorrow

Well done!

Did you do this with your Nigerian license?

If so, how high was the insurance, if you don't mind sharing, please.

I'm trying to figure out if using that to register a vehicle in the interim is worthwhile.

You don't need to reschedule again if you have started the process. A similar thing happened to me and I just returned to finish it off another time. The security won't stop you and if they did just tell them you are a returnee applicant and they will allow you to enter. Also, do start from the group floor. Just go to that woman and she will clear you to go for your biometric. Cheers

Please, I got caught suddenly in rain a few weeks ago with my passport on me, and when I discovered it at home, part of the passport photograph on biodata page has become cloudy. The passport was supposed to expire in like 15 months from now. Can I just apply for renewal, pay for 10 year passport and schedule capture in London? I'm asking because on the Nigeria high commission website in London, I'm seeing postal order of £250 for damaged passport, whereas it's £20 for renewal. Not sure if it is a mistake or that's how it is. Please kindly advise, as that's what is delaying my Schengen visa application right now.

The rate you'll get will be largely dependent on your individual circumstances, but should be lower than what you'll get with car finance options. You can check with your bank to have an idea of what rate you can get, you can also use platforms like money supermarket, totallymoney, clearscore etc to compare rates.
On your 2nd question, it will form part of your outgoings and it will be factored in when considering your affordability.
I understand this part, but I was asking if the fact that I collected loan will have a negative effect on mortgage application, not as part of my monthly expenditures.

I am not certain if you can apply for passport renewal with 15 months remaining on your current passport. Typically, it is recommended to renew a passport when there are six months or less remaining before it expires. However, there may be a system in place for renewing a passport with more than six months remaining, but it may require paying a higher fee. I know of two people who renewed their passports in Nigeria with between 10-12 months remaining, but I do not have information on how they were able to do so. They told me there is a mechanism for such and all they did was pay a higher fee.

Regarding the postal order, the information provided is correct. In the UK, you will need to pay a fee of £250 by postal order to replace a damaged or lost passport. It may be helpful to seek input from individuals who have successfully renewed their passports in the UK with more than six months remaining on their current passports.

Do you have a photocopy of your passport photo page with you? The new passport pages are laminated so I am sure there's no room for moulds again. Cheers!

Not unless you fail to pay as and when due.

Depending on what other credit you carry, adding a fixed payment arrangement like this can help because banks like to see your ability to manage different credit types e.g. rolling debt like credit cards.

In summary, if you're applying for a mortgage imminently, like in a month or two, the hard search(es) might dent your application a little bit, but once you've paid it down as scheduled a few times, it'll be a boost to your application. Prompt payment history are the biggest factor for any credit application.

The impact the loan would have is, all your current credit commitments, would be considered, when affordability is been calculated.........

Thank you so much for the reply. I have a photocopy of the page from while it was still perfect, and other pages are still perfect. I'm just concerned it may not be accepted during any visa application. I can't exactly afford paying £250 minus the original cost of a new passport right now. Please can anyone who has had a similar situation in the UK respond? I'll really appreciate it. Thanks.

renewal with more than 6 months on it is most times tricky. Is the data page totally defaced? U can take a trip to the High Commission to check as 250 pounds is a lot of money or wait till when it’s about to expire

In credit application, inclusive of mortgage (bond as it's called in some countries), you have
- credit worthiness (where your credit score weighs heavily); and
- affordability (where your monthly financial commitments are scrutinized)
The degree of impact each plays varies from lender to lender; more especially where it is automated with algorithm or AI/ML
One quick thing on affordability is that if two applicants have the same credit score, and perhaps similar environmental (living) conditions, you may find that the one with £4000 income might be approved over that of £5000 or even £6000. Why, the 5k and 6k might have less (monthly) financial commitments.

@semmy k, @amarathripple, Lexus and other elders. A Quick Question: Is it possible for a newly employed staff to asked for a raise immediately after probation even though the agreement signed says salary amendment will be done every February starting from next year. But his claim is that the JD was to service uk office but during the probation time he has been servicing all other office ( about 4 of them) and done above what was required of him.

My understanding is that the probation review has occurred already - that would have been the perfect time to raise it.

Anyway, if it's February 2023, I would say wait and see what they offer, and if it's not up to par, raise the points made here. I should note though that it's not really a question of the geographical coverage that should be the priority - it should be whether the workload is significantly different, in terms of time and other things like travel etc. If it's taking the same amount of time/effort, the contract will typically be worded to cover that the company can assign you to different duties based on business needs, so they likely aren't actually violating it in any way. You should definitely still make the case for an increase, just bear that in mind in the presentation.

If it's February 2024, then yes, ask ASAP.

My rule of thumb is always to raise things like this informally to 'test the waters' and prime the recipients, before putting in a formal request.

During the probation, was the employee sent abroad (what do you mean by UK office only)............

Done above and beyond during a probationary period, is a way of proving capabilities and abilities........ Why did the employee not refuse the extra roles ............ wink

Wait till February, but employee should have an informal conversation, over a cup of coffee, to their line manager........ For all we know, the extra roles carried out, might have simply gone unnoticed.......... grin

Are the immigration officers in airport able to tell if such person have had lot of travel histories even when the new passport has no stamps.

Would they purposely run scan on the person history or they just have a computer that tells them on the spot the person's history or they have to ask the person first if he has been to other countries before

They are able to check if you've been to the country before or like the schengen zone, they'll see your previous immigration records. But they wouldn't see your trip to Dubai.

So why wont they see the dubai trip na?
Also, lets assume you have been to uk, ger, dubai, fra, belgium, and now you have a fresh passport, and you are traveling from nigeria to uk, do you mean

1) uk immigration can only see that you have been to uk in the past

Or

2) uk immigration can only see that you have been to uk and other shengen listed above but not dubai

Or

3) uk immigration can see all of the countries you have been to before

Try care work, if that's something you can/want to do.

I've heard that they pay very well and there's a lot of premium rate night shifts available so you can take night shifts and also work full time + plenty extra time through the breaks.

I don't have exact figures so I don't know how feasible 8k specifically is, but if you are able to Marshall a substantial sum, most universities will be flexible.

Best of luck.

He would need to work full time in care at premium rates to be able to make an after tax amount of £8k in 90 days. This would be in breach of his student visa work restriction.

It's not totally defaced. It's just a part of the passport photograph on the datapage that is cloudy, hence you can't see my full face clearly except you look closely. I intend to apply for a Schengen visa in like two months, that's why I'm concerned about if it will be an issue at the French embassy.
