Participants at the civil society South-East stakeholders’ meeting on the 2023 general elections in Enugu State have expressed disappointment over the activities of some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) whom they accused of failing in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking at the Forum, the participants alleged that at various Permanent Voter Cards distribution centres across the South east region, many eligible voters could not obtain their cards despite several visits to the centers.

They however called on the management of the electoral body in the region, to use the one-week extension for the distribution exercise to ensure that no voter was disenfranchised.

INEC was however commended for ensuring the compliance with the schedules on the electoral processes so far, urging the Commission to ensure that all votes count at the 2023 polls in the country.

Heads of the security agencies in the South East who participated at the stakeholders meeting assured their readiness to provide effective security before, during and after the elections.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters' checks showed that INEC officials were not distributing the PVCs at local communities.

It was observed that in Obeagu community in Ishielu Ward 8, in Ebonyi State, INEC officials were not distributing the PVCs.

A resident of the community, Ogbuabor Samuel, told SaharaReporters that since the PVCs distribution exercise began, no INEC staff had shown face in the Ward

This election can't be free and fair if some people are disenfranchised because of failure on the part of INEC to discharge their duties! In a sane country, INEC would be sued! When will we ever get it right?

We know the real cause but The truth is a hard pill to swallow for most people. Sad

We all know the tricks. Let them wear any Tinubu's Apparel to INEC office for easy collection

Something fishy is going on with PVC distribution in the south East.

I'm not surprised, that region always has the mentality that someone is cheating them, playing the victim's card. They suffer persecutory delusion.
As if problem with PCV collection doesn't cross nationwide...

Even though collection of pvc is the easiest thing to do right now in the east you can even collect for someone else, but let's act as if its the most difficult thing to do so that Inec will Continue to sit up and their staff never relent in the good work they are doing here in the east

Tinubu from SouthWest is the one causing your inability to organise yourselves, inability to call your youths to order to stop burning INEC infrastructures

Even in the SE Igbos are not going to collect their PVCs. I saw a video the other days where they were being begged to come and collect their voters cards in Anambra.

Look For Emi Lo kan Cap and Wear , Then go to INEtC Office and Collect your PVC

They'll still blame Tinubu

They were burning INEC offices up and down, now they are wailing
