I want to carefully discuss this because this tithing thing is one of the reasons I started doubting Christianity and eventually left the religion after I made proper research.

1. The first place tithing was mentioned in the bible is in Genesis 14. In the passage, Abraham made a vow that if the lord helped him to win a war with Sodom to rescue his nephew, he's going to pay a tithe from the "proceeds" of the war.
He eventually won and then paid the tithe as vowed to Melchizedek, fed his men and then returned the remnant to Sodom. Please read this.

2. The second place tithe was mentioned in the bibke is in Genesis 28:20-22 when Jacob made a vow again like Abraham did. He asked God to be with him and help him through a journey or something (I can't remember the story), he will pay a tithe to him. It was never recorded whether he paid it or not.

Notice that these two scenarios are different from what Christians practice today. They were personal vows and not commandments hence cannot be applied to what Christians practice today in terms of weekly/monthly remittance to their churches.

3. Lastly, Tithe didn't become a commandment until Deuteronomy 14 (please read every single passage I am quioting).
The instructions here were clear on how tithes should be paid.

¡. Tithes should be paid to those from the descendants ofr Levi called the Levites. Levi is the 3rd son of Isaac that makes up the 12 tribes of isreal.

¡¡. Tithing is a 7 years cycle: you are suppose to eat your tithe in the first and seocnd year, the bible in this passage even suggested they you sell it and use it and buy whatever you like including alcohol and celebrate wherever your lord God chooses.

¡¡¡. You are suppose to pay tithes to Levites in the 3rd year.

¡V. You are meant to eat your tithe in the 4th and 5th year.

V. You are suppose to pay your tithe to Levites on the 6th year.

V¡. You are suppose to rest in the 7th year.

Tithe of tithes.

In the 3rd and 6th year, the Levites are suppose to gather all the tithes they have received and then divide them into 10 and keep the tithe of tithes in the storehouse of God. It's this tithe of tithes that eventually reaches the synagogue and stored for poor people and the needy.

Numbers 18:26
Thus speak to the Levites, and say to them, When you take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe

Now, malachi 3 VS 8 to 10 that pastors use in blackmailing you was referring to this tithe of tithes and not the one you are suppose to eat. It's this one that eventually gets to the storehouse.

Above all, the tithing law is stale, christians are not suppose to live by moasic laws, if you want to then you have to obey all the laws else you will be under a curse (Galatians 3:10-29), again you have to find a Levite and pay this tithes to in the 3rd and 6th year and not every month.

These reasons are why Jesus himself didn't even collect tithes according to the scripture. He wasn't a Levite.
So why should Someone from Ogun state and Anambra state in Nigeria be entitled to your tithes in the name of a pastor even when Jesus never collected it?

It doesn't make any sense. These pastors will keep ripping you and mixing things up for you until you actually go and read this Bible by yourself. Tithe is fraud

It signifies faithfulness in the lives of God's people!

Nobody knows what an Israelite makes yearly in his or her business yet he must calculate all his expenditure with the capital invested then subtract his gain/profit this must be divided into ten places and a part he or she will bring to the Levites.

So it's impossible to ascertain if an Israelite is honest with this or not that's why it takes great faith on the part of the depositor!

But after Jesus established Christianity the rule changed {Hebrews 7:12} Christians aren't required to bring in tithes anymore because all of them are Levites spiritually speaking but yet they must pay their tithes to the High Priest (Christ Jesus) HOW?

Jesus commanded his disciples to make profits through the talent (knowledge) given to each of them {Matthew 25:15} with the knowledge they have each must preach and teach to increase the disciples of their master {Matthew 28:19-20} this is lot more difficult than the former tithe because each disciples must go out to preach and teach in his or her neighbourhood so there's no way a dubious person can hide without being noticed in his neighbourhood if he's one of Jesus' disciples unlike the former tithe that only required giving out materials things a disciple of Christ must prove to be blameless in his territory otherwise everyone will know him as they will be pointing fingers at him or her when he/she is preaching from house to house and door to door for Christ.

Today JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES are the one and only group practicing this tithe system that's why they must spend their time preaching and teaching in our neighborhood. Each making the best use of the TALENT the master gave them.

You may have been wondering why Jehovah's Witnesses always preach and teach as if they're forced to do it well it's because that's the one and only way we pay our TITHES to the master DIRECTLY. So it's left for any disciples what he or she will do with the TALENT (KNOWLEDGE) our Master Lord and King Christ Jesus gave him! Matthew 25:24-30

Correction Abraham made no vow. He just was a wise man and knew many things you still have not figured out!

For God to keep walking with him till he died it means he paid it, for God hates covenant breakers. He keeps His Own part of the Contract so you must keep yours. That is The Law of Contracts (Covenants)
