This musical band led by Dr Warrior was one of the things that helped Igbos to regain lost confidence after the devastated Civil war.
Rangers International defeating Nigerian clubs in football matches also boosted confidence with a feeling that you can defeat us in war due to external support but we will beat you in the pitch on a level playing field anyday.
They were really awesome in those days

About 90% of local musicians from.mbaisw basically feeds off his works... Go to any ceremony in mbaise, the live band performs his songs from begining to end

Late Legendary Dr Sir Warrior of his blessed memory was extraordinary talent in music. He basically didn't write his songs. Composed them on the stage and it flows. He had a unique velvet voice and his lyrics embedded with proverb and wisdom.

You'll need to understand Owerri dialect though to fully benefit from the inherent wisdom of this talented music icon of all time. We must not forget the founding fathers of the high life and AFROBEAT who are resting in the Lord.

We must remember and give them credit for their contributions in Nigerian music industry.

I salute the home town and state of oriental Brothers international Band Owerri Imo State.

But Sir Warrior is personally from Mbaise.
Nice thread..

Warrior one of the finest we've ever had.

All his songs carried weight and portrays deep message..
Nwanne awuhu enyi a deep message telling us A sibling is different from a friend.

I have a handful of all his popular songs.
Always on repeat.

Nwanne awu enyi.
Ama onye wu onye.
Jide nkegi.
Kelechi(iche na mmadu bu ewu).
Ebele mama mu.
Obi Nwanne.

And a lot more. Mehn memory lane.
RIP to the Enyiogugu man in Aboh Mbaise precisely.
A legend.

I don get playlist for my trad like this.. grin cheesy

A gara cha enwehu ulo n'elu uwa, E ji la ekete kuru mmiri

I like all Igbo songs, not because all their ladies have yam legs (in videos) but the instruments and proverbs suits me just fine. I nearly learnt Igbo language at a time but ......

He is from my maternal home ...umuhu ...enyiogugu in aboh mbaise LGA. His father later become a king . However b4 he died ..he visited our home and ask me to plug mango ...i am suppose to sell the bag of mango the next day at
Afor enyiogugu ..which is a popular market ...he never returned my money till he died . I will not say he tricked me cos he was a decent and respected human being ...I guess he forgot cos he was always on the move . His musical tour keeps busy to remember the mango . I hold nothing against him ...when my mum.died the kids charged us less to perform ...I guess that's a big compensation for that .

ONE SLOWPOKE IS COMPARING HIS SUNNY ADE WITH ORIENTAL BROTHERS, I JUST DEY LAFF THESE CONTESTING SLOWPOKES, EVERYTIME SOMEONE FROM IGBO EXTRACTION IS BROUGHT TO THE FRONT PAGE, THESE TRIBALISTIC PARASITES, WITH AN AVALANCHE OF HATE POURING FROM THEIR INNERMOST PART WILL END UP RUINING THE FUN.

Useku:
When chips were down for me as a uni boy,I drew strength from his songs playing cassettes from my transistor radio.

I remember,
Ozo wu iwem, and I fought never to have a generational pattern web me in.

I remember ,

Onye mezie ndu ya emezie, and I vowed to leave right and shun temporal pleasures

I remember,
All the lyrics of nwanne awu eyin and I chose to learn from the wisdom of the ancients!

I have their songs in my office laptop, car stereo and in my bedroom.

Rest on dey warrior.
Ozo wu iwem was a diss song by Kabaka. He sang the song after he fall out with sir warrior. It is in that song that they said "if you see a snake and an Mbaise man, kill the Mbaise man before you kill the snake"
