CBN governor's tenure is 5 years which can be renewed. Mr Godwin Emefiele was appointed by former president Goodluck Jonathan in June 2014 and was re-appointed by the current president in 2019 for final tenure of 5 years, which will expire in June 2024, except he may be sacked by the incoming president with the approval of 2/3 majority of the Senate.
