Pharmacist Placed On Oxygen Support In Hospital Dies Due To Prolonged Power Outage

A Nigerian pharmacist on Twitter has shared the sad story of how his colleague who was on life support passed on after the hospital suffered a power outage for more than 24 hours, IGBERETV reports.

The pharmacist with the handle @subpharmacist said the deceased was involved in an accident and had a blood clot in his braid. He said the deceased was placed on oxygen but died due to the prolonged loss of electricity supply.

He wrote on Twitter;

"Man had an accident and there was “blood clots” in his brain. He was on oxygen in the ICU, and they took light. They took light, and for more than 24hours there was no light, the gentlemen packed up. And guess what, he was a pharmacist, With a wife and children."

"I wish this was a made up story. How I wish.

"If you have an emergency here, your chances are 50/50 already.

We better all wake and vote wisely.

Vote someone that will change the way things are going in the country, at this point, it’s beyond sad."

It’s a pity a government owned hospital doesn’t have a backup generator Incase of emergency, if you can’t afford a good specialist hospital in Nigeria (cedarcrest, Kelina and the rest ) or funds to travel abroad for medical then you will know how fvcked our government hospitals are . May Nigeria not happen to us but we can change this prayer point By voting in Obidatti . May his soul rest in peace

Was discussing with my former boss and she said her family of 6 is relocating to the UK and it'll cost them 40mil. Years ago I would have laughed and said that's a foolish decision but being that the Quality of Life is reducing in Nigeria on a daily basis, that seems to be the way forward.

Unfortunately, nobody will change anything... An average polithiefcian in Nigeria is just desperate to get the power and once that's achieved, the tune changes along with the dance steps and then we start looking forward to the end of their 8 years again

BTW, the cause of death sounds somehow! There's no gen in the hospital or what? How did the hospital keep him with them without referring him to another hospital, for 24 hours, when they had no light?
