It’s a pity a government owned hospital doesn’t have a backup generator Incase of emergency, if you can’t afford a good specialist hospital in Nigeria (cedarcrest, Kelina and the rest ) or funds to travel abroad for medical then you will know how fvcked our government hospitals are . May Nigeria not happen to us but we can change this prayer point By voting in Obidatti . May his soul rest in peace

Campaign without evidence. grin
How many hospitals, sorry health centres has he built when he held sway in Anambra state.

It wouldn't matter to those in power because when the fall ill they have the resources they have stolen to travel abroad and seek good medical health, all the infrastructural decay in our system cannot be of any major concern to them as they are not affected in any way,it's only when people start to reason and think well with their brains before things will ever get better in this country, una mumu never do, Feb 25 is another opportunity to vote wisely, if we vote looters and criminals we will continue on this same path,do not let, tribal, religious and ethnic sentiments stupid blindfold us again

Provocative statements. Oxygen can run ,independently , of NEPA. Oxygen gas is like the gas cooker we use at home. Does gas cooker need electricity to function in the kitchen. Nigeria is at its lowest ebb, we all agreed but we should be careful how we embellished it with false narratives to gain unnecessary traction. Back to the core arguments, It is expensive to run oxygen at ICU without electricity, agreed. Nevertheless, there is alternative that does not require electricity and that is the rebuttal am exploring to emphasize. That said. Institutional failures everywhere, no one is in charge from top to bottom. Nobody is held accountable for gross irresponsibility or malfeasance. The cheapest commodity we have, fossils fuel or oil, is not even available. The man in charge of oil , as minister, has abdicated his duty to unknown runz men and we are left exposed to gory situations.
An ICU is a complex structures that utilizes electronic gadgets that depend solely on electricity and must be run for 24/7 with a standby generating set should a power failure occurs inadvertently. This is the basic standard not even global. It's like running an incubator without power, a recipe for disaster. Our health care system is dangerously fragile due to lack of power. Period. Make all of us keep safe oooo. To end it, if na to survive on oxygen inside ICU, there are many alternative to get the oxygen without necessarily depending on NEPA but I know more than ,that is an ICU patients will require other extraneous services ,that are NEPA dependent.

There are some medical gas systems that run on electrical automation like medical gas bedhead panels. There will be the gas tank/unit in a far distance and several pipes will run through a medical system that needs electricity at the termination points for patients to use. If there is no power to supply at the patient's bed, there could be wahala. But one would think a normal hospital that has been in business in Nigeria would have thought of the risks power outage could cause and taken several steps to mitigate them. It is well jare....may we not be sick in Nigeria.

there is one thing most people are not getting about the Nigeria situation and that is THERE IS NO MIRACLE ANY OF THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OR THE NEXT INCOMING PRESIDENT CAN PERFORM IN ANYTHING LESS THAN 3 YEARS. I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD LIMIT THEIR EXPECTATIONS.
This present APC government of Buhari and tinubu has destroyed many things and from all data and information, things are most likely going to get worse this year and next year except a miracle happens in the world economy, and maybe world crude prices rise to 300 dollars per barrel. even if peter obi he can't perform any miracle BUT WHAT WE ARE FIGHTING, CANVASSING, AND TELLING PEOPLE IS THAT AS BAD AS IT IS NOW VOTING IN THE WRONG CANDIDATE WILL TOTALLY DESTROY NIGERIA AT THIS STAGE, THIS COUNTRY WILL CRUMBLE AND CRASH , SO WE SHOULD ALL VOTE WISELY FOR A CANDIDATE WHO IS MENTALLY FIT AND DOESN'T RUN INTO HALLUCINATIONS WHEN GIVING SPEECHES

And is the man using any of the hospitals he built in Lagos for his own medical and family needs,if u can honestly show me any pictures or videos where he use any of the hospitals u claimed he built, I will vote for him. But if u can't he doesn't deserve my vote, I have stated here, I can only vote anyone who truly love and is passionate about this country, not those who are there to enrich themselves for their selfish gains

I knew a lady who was about giving birth and the childbirthing process became complicated — and something shocking happened, there was power outage, do you know the nurses had to go get candles? Candles! Guyyyyy it was God that just saw her through.

A good Samaritan came from nowhere, and ordered that she should immediately be transferred to a private hospital.

I'll still continue to say it, we're all living at the mercies of God in this country...As if that isn't enough, some useless fools are still clamouring for some certain idiots to be elected in.

It all boils down to Buhari presidential power initiative programs with semen... It's ongoing currently and if all is uphold it should be able to transmit 7000MW+ by 2023 end with generation capabilities of 20,000+MW and 25,000MW by 2025.....

In effect all the presidential candidates don't need to do anything all they just have to do is support the program and guild its conclusions.

Obi is a very smart man that's why he was able to give a bold projection of 7GW same with the other candidates

In my area for over 24 hours now there is no power

And guess what, it happens a couple of times every month. And the outage could get to 72 hours sometimes.

This is not even a possibility in some African countries even when they have thunder storms and terrible weather.

This is one of the reasons when people travel outside of Nigeria, they suddenly begin to feel that they have gone to heaven. I guess Nigeria is just hell.

Pharmacist Placed On Oxygen Support In Hospital Dies Due To Prolonged Power Outage

A Nigerian pharmacist on Twitter has shared the sad story of how his colleague who was on life support passed on after the hospital suffered a power outage for more than 24 hours, IGBERETV reports.

The pharmacist with the handle @subpharmacist said the deceased was involved in an accident and had a blood clot in his braid. He said the deceased was placed on oxygen but died due to the prolonged loss of electricity supply.

He wrote on Twitter;

Your last paragraph thou..and who is that best candidate to vote for? Am sure you will definitely mention Peter Obi, but the last time I checked; all government hospitals in anambra state were on strike for 13months when Obi was the governor, so where does that leave us… Rip to your colleague anyway

If only this is how it is in abroad that our politicians run too, it'd have been better. Those bastard politicians will travel abroad and see how things are being done normally there but will refuse to replicate it in our country. Posterity shall judge every Nigerian politicians.
I'd prefer posterity to judge people voting them in, that's why I don't feel pity but sad for the dead man cos he might have voted or supported this government in one way or the other, they qeue up to support a politician that travels abroad for treatment with his family forgetting they can't even afford a good antibiotics or malaria meds here in Nigeria.

What abt the cost of fueling a gen for 24hrs? Could the victim's people afford it? Considering the high cost of fuel. I have even included other hospital bills like the bed, drugs and others.

If you use a standby generator for 24 hours, it is no longer a standby generator. It has become your primary source of power.

Basic problem with power is simple.

It is not getting the money it needs to function well.

At the end of the day, the power sector is severely underfunded because

1.Government sets their prices.

2.Average Nigerians do not pay power bills because it is too high.

Infact, many of the people shouting about this case are part of the pharmacist dying, because they do not pay power bills, or use power illegally. When we don't pay bills, the power companies do not have money to do nothing...and infact three of them have gone bankrupt and been taken over by their creditors.

Yet, on this site, Nigerians come here to praise people like a customs officer who chased away DISCO workers who were disconnecting his light for no payment. Such people are heroes. Meanwhile, the DISCOS cannot make a profit, and the GENCOS do not have cash to pay for gas. And there is no money and no investment in our power secotor.

All because we want cheap power.

Even the hospitals. Government hospitals are poorly run because of low fees, low this and low that

I still blame the APC government for not earning enough money, but the fact is, things like power and healthcare are not cheap. Demanding for cheap stuff is what got us here.
