Arinze96:
Good evening bosses.

Please I need a generator recommendation.
The loads are; 1.5hp, 2hp both inverter ACs, a smart TV, a game console and a 130L fridge.

I'd appreciate something with low noise, fuel efficiency and isn't too expensive.

Thank you.
A 5kva generator should do. It's going to be noisy compared to smaller generators, consume more fuel and of course expensive.

Just bought this gen few days ago and I just learnt here that it uses an aluminium coil 😔. If I had discovered this thread earlier, I wouldn't have settled for it.

Please, how long do you think this gen can serve me b4 it eventually breaks down? Can the coil be replaced with copper should it fail or start giving me problemshuh
It can last you for as long as possible provided you don't use it for heavy loads and change oil regularly.

How about the fuel consumption, won't it consume too much fuel if I leave it at factory settings?
Leave it at factory settings and avoid rapid wear of the engine. You believe these technicians know more than manufacturers?

Why do you want to use a stabilizer?
For protection against power fluctuations with PHCN power supply and since I read here that I can use a stabilizer with a generator, I want to be safer than sorry.

I need your honest opinion. Thank you.

Is it because of the ACs? Will 3.5kva be enough if there is no 2hp AC in the picture? If yes, what brand would you advice I go for?

Thank you.

Mehn, I messed with it a little already, but it still revs high and carries all the load comfortably.

Thanks for the advice, I'll increase it back to its factory settings.

A good surge protector should do a better job. If you normally have low voltage supply in your neighborhood then it makes sense to get a stabilizer.

Yes, because of the Acs. 3.5-4.5kva is not bad for the 1.5hp AC. I recommend only Sumec and Thermocool, but you can check out Maxi too.

Thank you. I will go for thermocool Optima 4000es then. Hopefully it isn't noisy

Morning engineers.

Have a Luthian 2700 which has not given any problem since purchase.

Change oil almost weekly.

This morning tried switching on and it made some knocking sounds before switching back off.

After some tries it kept making this knocking sounds and suddenly stopped switching on again.

Changed oil, fuel full, still doesn't switch on again.

Always used it on small load, just fan and bulbs.

What do I do please?
I used the generator yesterday for 4 hours
Thank you aieromon, fixed this.

Problem was actually spark plug.

What could have knocked the engines of two of my generators?

Both had engine oil.

Could faulty light connection make a generator knock its engine?

while you're right about welders doing such,it comes with its own risks. Most power tools are made with such in mind, same can not be said about household electronics

I'm not saying it's not safe. But I am saying there is a better way of connecting your appliances so do that. Money is extremely hard to come by now

The washing machine will be downstairs close to the gen. It won't be inside the flat upstairs that's why I wanted to connect it directly.

Can anyone recommend a Sumec dealer in Lagos? Preferably on the island.

I'm looking to buy an ECO 4990ES, and Sumec Plaza said it's out of stock.
