A notorious terrorist leader, Machalla Baleri, has been seen in a viral video displaying wads of new naira notes amid a scarcity of the naira.

The PUNCH reports that banking halls across various commercial banks in Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, and other parts of the country witnessed minimal activity as frustrated customers resorted to alternative means of cash withdrawal following the scarcity of naira notes in the banks.

Checks by our correspondents revealed that while most banking halls were empty due to the paucity of funds in bank vaults, large crowds had formed outside some of the few banks that were rumoured to be preparing to load their Automated Teller Machines.

But the bandit leader, in an unverified video released online on Wednesday, claimed that he had enough of the new naira notes.


Baleri, who spoke in the Hausa language in the two minutes 20 seconds video clip, claimed he had up to N10 million of the new naira notes.

He also claimed he had enough new naira notes to purchase more weapons.

I laughed when people said the new naira note is targeted at tinubu. They forgot most politicians own 80% of the commercial banks. Even cbn is doing a currency swap near sambisa forest. How will the new note not get to them

Conspiracy theorists who asserts that there is a sinister agenda to the change of currency policy, may not be far from the truth.

This Fuel scarcity and Naira scarcity are not just coincidental. I opine that they are delibrate and artificially created crisis which multi dimensional aim is to :
(a)arouse publc disaffection and frustration (b)instigate a nationwide crisis
(c)compromise the forthcoming election.

Those who concur with the CBN Governors argument that the reason for changing our currency is to prevent vote buying, do not know how adept Nigerian politicians are at circumventing the system.

They might have the new note but not enough to feed themselves not to talk of buying new weapons. All these are to make it look like the policy is not working, but it is. The discomfort on the masses is just collateral damage.
