Whatever he wants to do, let him remember this, those who make it big, usually position themselves strategically.

If he has decided that his strategic positioning aka unique selling point is free initial design, so be it.

But whatever you do, find one thing that makes you stand out from the crowd, if you want to progress faster than your peers.

I spent a fortune to get one of those sketches.

The lady that did the sketch refused to give me a breakdown of the materials like you just did for free. She insisted on being paid 50% of her proposed contract sum before she would. Yet in addition to paying her, I paid for lunch for her at a restaurant, because I wanted to impress on her that I really wanted it urgently, and so she would feel somewhat obligated to deliver as requested.

Please don't stop doing this.

You may feel like you are giving away your brainwork for nothing, but rest assured, you are making friends that can easily give you business.

People do business with people they like. You just made yourself likable. No one gives his enemy money. People nearly always give those they like money.

This is the second time I am noticing someone saying good about you because of your free sketches, and I have no choice but to take note of you for future business.

I believe I speak for others when I say I am not alone.

Gentlemen, please take it easy with Brick, he has not stolen anything. After reading from the beginning, the vibe I get is that he did not trust the customer to pay in a timely manner. He’s the one that knows this person, not us. He knows what moved him to that point of desperation. Let us respect everybody’s right to what belongs to them, no matter the amount. How can you owe money for service delivered and not have the courtesy to communicate the reason for the delay until called out? Why did the customer not negotiate a deal that was conditioned upon “builder review?” Why introduce that without telling the contractor and then spring it on him on a public forum AFTER he calls you out?

I assume this is the first time that Brick has called anyone out? I’m sure this is not the first time he’s faced delayed payment so it’s not habitual. We all show up here, nobody knows what other people are going through. Who knows if his first wife is due to deliver triplets any day now? Who knows if the money is to buy supplies for his second wife’s salon? Who knows if the money is to repair the third wife’s car or pay side chick’s final year clearance fees? . . . . . you get the drift? Everybody get pepper bodi in Nigeria right now so let’s show him some grace.

For anyone that had serious intentions to give him work, do not let this be the reason why you don’t proceed. Abi were you planning to delay payment with no communication? What are you afraid of? My unsolicited advice - make una no carry moni go dash fraudulent contractors in the name of canceling Brick.
We call out contractors, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. That customer nor do well, nor dey hol’ pipu moni with no communication, very poor manners.

That is why I made it clear that if I engage P2P. I will pay him. I am creative too and I know the work that goes into creating something from scratch. That should be appreciated.

I wanted to understand the drawing and make input on the materials and see how we could achieve what I wanted without spending unnecessarily. The only language she wanted to hear was when I was going to send her the money. And she wanted me to seat back and wait for her to do magic.

To make matters worse, after she gave me the total cost of doing the project. She then added a new cost she called the supervision fee. And then explained to me that the breakdown of the materials will only be released to me after I have paid this new supervision fee.

It was then and only then that she told me that that is how she runs her business.

She never told me this when I engaged her at first. As far as I am concerned, it was as good as shifting the goalpost.

So to see someone offer to design for free, and even provide a list of materials for doing the job, I could not help myself. I just had to comment.

It would be very unfair to abuse his kindness.

It’s a very valuable tool to me. It bridges the gap between me and my architect because I can better show him the exact flow that I’m looking for. Flow is very important to me even more that unrealistic 3Ds.

so basically what you are saying a free design is veeeeeeeery good. You wanted the client to give you the discretion on what and how much to pay her mhen nairalanders especially this property section can chat funny comments . If she gave you those information then you will transfer her 50k and tell her to Bleep off. This is 2023 if you don't want to leverage information then go and work in a block industry and use your energy it's that simple.
