This is what we must have if you trade in a cashless economy.

Smart aboki, let others keep lamenting.
So you believed this?

Is this even sustainable?

N50/100 sugarcane would make one pay N10 charges — that you're charged for N5000 transaction?

Who then benefits? Finance houses?

You don’t have to call him names, you’re the one who’s rather shortsighted here. If he’s not smart enough to know his profit and loss I’m sure he won’t get it in the first place.

Also, even if the price is as high as you claim, if other small business follow this trend, many fintechs will jump into the business and crash its price in no time and that ultimately will drive Nigerias cashless economy goal.

This looks more like a skit. The reality here is that the total cost of all those sugarcanes in his wheelbarrow isn't enough to buy a POS machine.

And even if he miraculously buys one, how many customers would feel comfortable inserting their debit card inside that POS machine just to settle a sugarcane debt of less than N200.

Don't believe everything you see on the internet.
And you want me to believe your comment?

How much are the charges for using these POS and who is paying? The customer or the seller or sugacane? And who does the profits from the charges goes to. undecided one wonders.

Used to what?

Used to the fact that transaction cost of 3 sugarcane worth N150 is N10*3 = N30? — 20% of the transaction's worth? — going to financial system/banks who don't even provide reasonable loan?

What exactly are we getting used to ?

Cash management is always trade-off.

A delicate balance between high transactions costs — due to frequency of e-transactions for basic things like sugarcane. Or cashbased transactions with low/no transactions costs.

Question is why isn't their a stop/decrease on transactions cost on a society pushing for cashless?

Who profits from huge revenues from more costs ?
At whose cost?
