Note that some departments are singled out for failure while others aren't, this is done on purpose. I'm 100% sure of this. And some students have already started paying to pass this same course. What a shame!

Your eyes are not evidence. What you saw can be said to have never happened. After reading the rest of the comments, I am inclined to question your thread. What necessiated my initial comment was the tale of past students, as far as back as '16 still re-writing the course.

BTW, how many first class graduates has the department produced in the last decade?

Report the lecturer to students affair or write to the VC.

In the department of Chemistry, there's this course we take as a faculty course: General Chemistry II (Chem131.2). An easy course, quite easy, but with a huge number of failures. People are intentionally being given carry-overs by these very wicked lecturers. We wrote this course on the 4th of February, normally it shouldn't take more than one hall to contain the students writing it, but it took the whole 5 halls, full to the brim because of the number of students being given carry-overs unjustly, with more and more students trooping in to write this paper, imagine where invigilators stay to invigilate, that's where students were being squeezed in to write this exam cause of lack of space, and this is just my department alone.

After writing the exams, these chemistry lecturers move around looking for students who want to pass the exams, and asking them to write down their names and pay money, while they fail the rest students, even people who should make a perfect result are given a straight F! Isn't this beyond wickedness?! Even the devil cannot be this wicked!

Students would pass very difficult courses, write their projects and defend successfully, but still have this course holding them back, and one can't graduate without it, that's what these lecturers use to hold people back. You have U2016s still writing this course in 2023! People that ought to have finished with their masters. This is not even the height of this evil, even students who pay money which is almost half of the school fees for the whole year, to pass, are still being failed so that they'll pay another money again. And for those having extra year, you're also paying another school fees while you still remain in school. I'm telling you guys even the devil cannot be this wicked! But unfortunately this is happening in a whole UniPort!!

70% of people who have dropped out in my department alone, dropped out because of this course, how long should this evil keep happening? Just because of the few lecturers who want to enrich themselves at the detriment of the students and the image of the University. These students who have dropped out, imagine the stories they have to tell to students in other schools?

My philosophy of life is, anything you keep quiet to, you encourage, you not only encourage but you're part of it, I cannot keep quiet to this evil anymore!

Students are being failed unjustly! Imagine going for practicals, writing the tests and exams acing everything, only to get an F. Doesn't this contradict the essence of going to school?

I believe sunlight is the best disinfectant, exposing this to the public will put a stop to this evil. If it doesn't, I will be back here!

You are a lazy fellow. What are you 100% sure of? Those lies you typed up there? So every student who would pass this CHM131.2 all paid their way through it? Like seriously? Aren't you sounding ridiculous even to yourself?
Sorting cannot be completely ruled out in some courses because there would always be some bad eggs in any organization, but no one will mark your script, see a correct answer to a question and then mark you wrong; it's very rare!
Drop this your victim mentality and start taking your studies seriously. You won't present this your story in place of a good degree before employers!

Instead of trying to at least study hard and try to make up for lost knowledge, they are always going to clubs and smoking weed to ”night class” to read.

After when exam reach you begin seeing them forcing their brain to understand in a very short time,what they could have easily understood if they had been reading little by little before exam time.

Study hard and if possible go back and read your secondary school textbooks so you can get an elementary knowledge of everything you’re trying hard to understand now.

If you were really good from your secondary school level, you’re good to go.

I recall in my yr one the fear of failure was massive maybe due to misinformation about the dept but I got a C in that course

Back then my friend and i wasn't good in that aspect of chemistry, so we were starting attending tutorials from the beginning of the semester, we study hard and we wrote our exams, we never sorted any course and we passed all courses in year 1.
So I'm still surprised by what OP put up there .

You are just in 100 level and this is how you intend to run your degree program; In the same school and program that you have started this early to mourn about, people will graduate with 1st and 2nd class upper. I'm sure by then you'll come back here to say they all sorted their way to 1st class and you were the only victim.
As for the bolded, I understand your condition and I sympathize with you.

I believe one issue the OP didn't comment on is the very poor results of other Faculties sharing this course.
I recall that Faculty of Engineering was even more hard hit in Yr.1 Physics courses than in this Chemistry course (I think only Chemical Engineering took this in the second semester). Overcoming the pre-conception that all visitors from Choba were unserious was a challenge. Coming in late to class was rather common. The irritated lecturers never asked how our timetable looked or how long transporting ourselves in twos took. The carry-over number was large. Surprise tests meant that you could attend the lecture and still miss the tests. Assignments were to be submitted in person, at Abuja Park/ UniPark.
The results were terrible!
On occasion, some Engineering students had different results against their mat. numbers - result at Sciences in Ofirima was different from what came to Choba. Going through our Academic Adviser, Result Moderator, everything we could do was done. Nothing was successful.

Like in many other things in our national life, fighting the system is challenging and best done when majority take it up.

OP, some people will give up. Others will do just about anything. Go through it. Complain. Speak to your Academic Adviser. Let him write any letters.

Do you know the total number of lecturers that teach this course? Or you are assuming it's just 2 or three?
Do you know that this particular course has a teaching material and also has a practical aspect?
Did you attend lectures at all? Can you name the 'lecturers' or 'agents' that pose as sorting agents for these 'lecturers'?

If you have the answers to my questions and a 100% surety, instead of ranting lies about innocent lecturers, please channel your pain to appropriate authorities or better still call out names with proofs.

Else, just hold your peace and stop denting people's image and the integrity, which chemistry department Uniport is known for.
