Some Church Workers Refused My Entering Their Church To Worship This Morning. by Inner19(op): 1:11pm On Feb 12, 2023
Hello everyone.

I am just not happy this Sunday morning. So I went to a Hotel to pick up a middle aged man I'm caring for. I'm a Caregiver. I'm not paid for the job. I'm doing it for GOD. I've been doing it since the beginning of this year January. The person had his family member come visit him on Friday from the South East. The family member lodged in a hotel because of Air Conditioner. I don't have Air Conditioner in my house and the man I'm caring for loves AC because of cool breeze so it was best for them. The family member travelled back early this morning to the South East so I had to rush down to continue taking care of him and bring him back to my house.

I got to the hotel in the morning around 7am. The man I'm caring for told me he didn't want to follow me home that early (I know he didn't want to follow me back home because there is no AC in my house. He just came back from USA after he fell sick) He still wanted to continue sleeping and enjoy AC so I said he can continue sleeping till check out time which was around 12noon. I told him I will wait till that time, then I will prepare him and we go.

I then told him in the meantime, I will use the opportunity to go to the church opposite the hotel who were singing worship songs when I was coming.
At least use that to buy time till 12noon when he is ready to go.

He agreed. Then I moved out of the hotel and walked straight into the church.

As I was about entering the compound of the church, some workers at the church gate saw me entering and called me. They were calling me as if they didn't want me to enter the compound which was their reason.

They asked me where I was going into. In my mind, I was like "where else am I going into if not your church". I them told them I was going to the church. The countenance on their face just changed immediately. It was clear they didn't want me to enter the church.

I told them I was coming from the Hotel opposite the church and I decided to come to the church. One of them was about to say something about my dressing.

For the records, I wore a long sleeve shirt, below the knee length shorts, a pam slippers and a head warmer on my head becos I left my house in the early hours of the morning and everywhere was cold but I had in mind removing it once I enter the church auditorium because I don't cover my head inside a church auditorium.

At that moment, I was said myself, why am I even explaining myself to these people.

So I asked them "You don't want me to come to your church right"? Then I walked away. As I was going, they started calling me back.

Then I got to the hotel and I started thinking about alot of things. I asked myself "Why do we judge people?" Is this how the church pursue sinners away from the church of God? Did they see me coming from the hotel and judged me immediately? Did they think I was a homeless person coming to church for help? Infact what if I was a homeless person coming to church to pray for God to help me, is that how they would drive me away.

What they didn't know was that I'm also a christian and a choirister too in my own church but I can imagine if it was someone else whose faith in God is still small or is still growing in faith. That act can discourage them from serving God or ever going to church again.

Please as christians, let's stop this over righteous behaviour. It not good atall. You judge people by looking at them without knowing anything about them. You are not GOD. Let's look beyond dressing. God does not look at such. People come to church to pray to God. We are all children of God regardless of religion. Even the sinners today are still children of God because he made everyone in his image and likeness and causes the sun to shine on both the saints and the sinners for a reason.

Some people feel because they are always going to church on Sunday they are better than someone who does not go to church. It is not good. Don't be like that. You are not better than anyone. Don't be like the Pharisees who were hypocrites and felt they were the most righteous on earth.

At the end of the day, it is only GOD that tests the heart and knows those whose hearts are for him.

God bless you.

Modified:
I have reached home. No light at home. The weather is so hot. I cooked fried plantain and made tea for my patient to eat. He has eaten. And I just gave him his medication. And I prepared a place for him to sleep while opening the doors for breeze to come in. Though he still complaining of heat.
Right now, I want to go and shower. Eat then sleep small. In the evening, I will try and listen to any of Apostle Joshua Selmans preaching on YouTube. May God strengthen me. Have a nice day.

There is something called facial expressions and body language. Not every message is passed across with words. You need to learn to read it. It will help u alot in life. I come in peace.

There is what is referred to an "interesting read" this certainly isn't one of them.I'm being honest here.

That said,
Facial expression is subjective and there are those always with a "welcoming" smile on their faces but are dangerous people.

For example Bisi Akande of the APC is always smiling but a terrible person.

Who in Nigeria today does not know that Buhari's body language shouldn't be taken serious?

I did not post my experience for it to be awarded an "Interesting Read" dear.

I just posted my experience for people to

1) to learn a lesson from it.

2) If guilty of being that "self righteous judgemental christian with bad attitude who goes to church" to stop it and turn a new leaf before they drive people away from the house of God.
But hey, even the bible says that "Judgement will begin from the house of God - 1Peter 4 vs 17.

Now both No 1 and No 2 is a matter of choice.

You are right. They way some people in the church judge others is not good at all. Like now, I'm going through financial difficulty, when some of the church members found out I went to the pastor for help their attitude towards me changed. They stopped warming up to me like before.

All the while they thought I was well to do but on seeing my true situation which made me ask for help from the church, it has reduced my value in their eyes.

Ive not received the help from the church tho for some reasons that are not clear to me.

For me, the church is the safest place to seek for help in times of need for a christian. If the church cannot help a child of God, it can lead to great grief. May God help everyone.

As for you op, you are doing a very charitable thing and if no one sees you, God is seeing you.
May God bless you for your help to the returnee.

You don't get. People don't have to tell you point blank, that they are fed up or disappointed in you or don't want your company with words.

They can say this in so many ways. And sometimes even when they try to pretend to be okay with you you can still see its a mask.

The mark of Christianity is love. And love is slow to judge. Christians should be so welcoming that no new comer should question their hospitality. If there is any doubt of kindness on the part of the visitor then something is wrong. There is a leaven somewhere.

What I noticed about some brothers and sisters is that they are a little bit conflicted in their minds. On one hand, they have this written or unwritten dress codes of their church that they feel obligated to keep. And on the other hand, they have the word of God instructing them to help/welcome even the least of the brethren...

So there is a conflict.

And for me, I daresay there should be no such thing as restrictions in the church in terms of dresing only that the members should be modest/decent. Christians should wear what they have to assemble with other brothers and sisters as long as they are dressed okay.

Even prostitutes from a brothel shouldn't be stopped from joining the church. After all no one knows when God convicts sinners to repent. But for this case of a prostitute receiving Christ, there should be provision for covering if the dress is completely inappropriate. But I doubt if a person who is convicted would wear a thing like that to church without being guided by the newly received Holy spirit.

In all, the church of God should uphold love. And be slow to judge but quick to show mercy.

Look here, church na business, owned and run by men for their personal profit --- it all has absolutely nothing to do with God. So the owners can decide for themselves who to let in and who not to. It is all up to the business, so you should forward your concerns directly to the business owners. Nairalanders can't do anything about all you wrote. undecided

Who is the father we are talking about here? Is it our earthly father or our heavenly father. If it is our heavenly father any man that run our heavenly father business with the law of men is running the church unbiblically

At this point I am certain you are not OK as you claim. Your not realizing by this point that by their existence as registered business entities according to the laws of men means that your churches are bound by many of the same laws others businesses particularly social clubs such as bars, clubs, etc., are bound by, leads me to believing you are definitely not OK up there. undecided

My brother, we don't judge the Truth by sentiments.

I'm aware of all you've written. However, my point is saying someone looked at you in a certain way is not even as weighty as the words he says- if you want to provide evidence.

The Truth is, that's his own side of the story. He never told us if the church has a particular dress code that he contravened.
Why did they pick on him(I assume he is not a woman). Was there a previous encounter? Is he a first timer? There are some things we aren't privy to.

Concerning dressing.
Yes, God looks at the heart but most of our intentions reflect in our actions and words.
For instance, if he has an appointment at the StateHouse on Sunday, would he prepare? Will he be casual if there's a formal dress code? Will he stroll in anytime and still feel entitled?

Why am I bringing those dimensions?
We don't reverence the "God" we claim we want to go and meet.

That said,
Nairaland isn't the said church where this happened. I expected him to thrash the matter there IF it's worth it.

Or go to another church who don't care about all he's complaining about

You see my dear. If a brother or sister comes complaining to you about something they don't like you should put on a comforting attitude towards them. For him to come to this extent shows how hurt he felt.

If he received the appropriate brotherly love he wouldn't complain. But there was something lacking that very day that upset his spirit.

This is not the matter of him being too hasty. He saw something that put him in that mood. He wouldn't have turned back if there was no hesitation from the other brothers at the gate. And that's the problem.

Christ has no hesitation or reluctance when it comes to the members of his body, even sinners. A believer shouldn't be coming to meet other believers and having doubts in his heart. It shouldn't be.

The problem here is that we make church a sacred place without free access when its just simply the gathering of believers. And we make access to God a physical thing when in fact he is dwelling in every believer at all times.

In short, the issue seems fundamental.

The brother wasn't dangerous or trying to cause trouble. He has 100% access to God without restriction every second why restrict him in our midst?

You cannot dismiss his personal experience, interpretation and reaction because they are his and there are so many people that have experienced same, myself included.

What I'm just trying to say is whenever a brother or sister presents an issue, our attitude should not be too quickly dismiss them but draw them near and comfort them even if they are wrong.

Let us show the love of Christ for his love will cover so many wrongs and give renewed hope to the bereft.

I get your point but what I'm saying is he has a duty to God not the nuances of those "workers" who may not know God.

Yes but not completely true.

A believer is entitled to receive love from other believers. To not show love is to deny them the fellowship they are to enjoy in Christ with other believers. This would prick their hearts and may even affect their faith. Let's not take charity for granted.

Just like I said before, the issues we have in church are from the root. So many fundamental errors that were neglected have led to strange behaviours like this.

It is well sha.
