What Would You Advice Both Parties To Do In Such A Situation by Hamachi(op): 11:48am On Feb 14, 2023
Iremide got an Offer with xxxxx Organisation, she was scheduled to come for her documentation and sign the offer letter on Tuesday. With so much excitement Iremide told everyone she has gotten a new job and is getting ready for her new place of work. It's Tuesday, the HR called Ire to remind her of her appointment, with joy she told the HR she is preparing and would be with them shortly.

The receptionist called the HR dept that they had a guest, the HR came down and did not recognize who was waiting, she asked the receptionist where is the guest, the receptionist pointed to a lady in a black transparent dress with visible cleavages and pink tinted hair. The HR spoke in surprise as she said oh Ire, you look very unrecognised, different from the day you came for interview (Ire was wearing a suit and a wig hence none of this was seen).

The HR went back to her office more confused wondering why did Iremide dress like that to pick up her offer letter when they are not in an entertainment industry, she called the reception to get Iremide account details, some money was sent to her and she was asked to go home that the HR will contact her soon.

Three days later Iremide got a mail that her offer letter had been withdrawn on the basis that her values does not align with that of the organisation.

Iremide is threatening to sue them and saying what does her dressing got to do with the Job.

What would you advice both parties to do in such a situation, or if you are either party what will be your next line of action.

Ire just made village people work easy!
But, On what grounds does she want to sue? Based on promise to come pickup an offer? Or for refusing to go ahead with the offer? Or that her values don't align with theirs?
There's yet to be a contractual obligation on the part of the org.
As HR, I will advise her on what to do to 'get' the job instead of this harsh treatment.
Problem with some of us is that we don't know how to separate work life from social life.
Eg how was your night?(u b winch? Wetin consan you)
You look sexy(you wan lape her? Ofis no club)
I only have tight jeans (4 ofis? U b hukop babe?)

We must learn to separate work life from social life.

Iremide should be arrested if she misbehave. The HR did a wonderful job and I'm impressed.

Well, both sides are to blame. Ire failed to do a research on the company and company culture before dressing up and coming in for documentation, after all it was not her first day at work. She didn’t have a clue as to what is acceptable dressing in the organization she was accepted in to. The HR manager would be blamed more. If I was a staff and I defaulted on dressing, I should be given a verbal or written warning as it may not warrant immediate termination.

The HR manager should have taken Ire to a small meeting room to have a brief induction on the cultures and values of the organization, then ask if the culture fits her values. At that point, you are giving Ire an option to change if she wants to continue with the recruitment or call it off if the organizational values do not align with her personal values. If Ire felt sorry for the way she dressed and promised it would never happen, then she could continue with the documentation process.

The HR was judgemental by looking at her dressing forgetting that part of being a HR professional is counseling and making people feel valued in the organization while living the values and meeting organizational goals with its PEOPLE!

What's wrong in taking Ire into a room to enlighten her on the company values as regards dressing? There was a reason why you wanted to hire her in the first place.

Sharp sharp HR don fire person!
That's why I no de pity for HR when I need to send them a regret mail as well 😒
HR too de do😏

This is a lesson for Ire and others of her likes that never that each worker is a brand with unique packaging.
You go for an interview with a look and decided to get your offer documents with another look grin grin grin

Ire never thought of why that man/woman in the office will always put on a unique dress or suit even in hot weather despite some inconvenience.

They can do whatever they like!

Meanwhile,
To whom it may concern, as you go about doing your valentine, DON'T LOSE GUARD OF YOURSELF!

Don't lose your dignity and virtue to nonsense, worthless and valueless things...

I know some fools that have lost their virginity to Indomie and fanta, pizza, ice-cream and all sorts of nonsense.

Your virginity is the most valuable and most precious thing you have to give any man.
Any man who tells you that your virginity or past doesn't matter is ONLY DECEIVING YOU!
That man is definitely not a responsible man or he only wants you for fun and something casual...

No high value man want to make a SLÚT or WHORÈ a wife or the mother of his children.
No one likes leftover...
No one like a used product...
No man likes a girl that has been ran through and passed around like football by various men...
Most importantly, NO CHILD WANTS TO BE BORN BY A WHORÈ OR A RETIRED SLÚT...

YOU CAN GIVE A LOT OF MEN

LOVE
MARRIAGES
CHILDREN etc
BUT YOU CAN ONLY GIVE ONE MAN YOUR VIRGINITY!
IS SUCH VALUABLE GIFT NOT WORTH GIVING SOMEONE SPECIAL THAT YOU WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WITH?

Personality conflict at work

The iremide that came for interview was humble and civil but the iremide that came for appointment letter was arrogant and nonchalant.

The HR erred on the path of professionalism, iremide erred on common sense.

Both could have handled the situation differently and the outcome would have been different.

Nothing to do about it
Re: What Would You Advice Both Parties To Do In Such A Situation by ybalogs(m): 1:44pm On Feb 14, 2023

Since she feels her dressing shouldn't be a reason for them to withdraw their offer letter, she should have gone for the interview dressed that way then. What's with ladies and sudden changes when success dawns? Why not just do what you know won't put you in trouble rather than gamble ?? Anyways as they say now e don go. She should go find another job.

Sue the company for what?
No written documents/contractual agreement exist between her (Iremide) & the company at that point.

Though, the HR stereotyped Iremide based on her dress mode, the HR ought to have given a "verbal warning" which is the first step towards an erring staff.
