Weekend Movie

- Whisper of the Heart (1995)

Shizuku Tsukishima is an energetic 14-year-old girl who enjoys reading and writing poetry in her free time. Glancing at the checkout cards of her books one evening, she notices that her library books are frequently checked out by a boy named Seiji Amasawa. Curiosity strikes Shizuku, and she decides to search for the boy who shares her love for literature.

Meeting a peculiar cat on the train, Shizuku follows the animal and is eventually led to a quaint antique shop, where she learns about a cat statuette known as "The Baron." Taking an interest in the shop, she surprisingly finds Seiji, and the two quickly befriend one another. Shizuku learns while acquainting herself with Seiji that he has a dream that he would like to fulfill, causing her dismay as she remains uncertain of her future and has yet to recognize her talents.

However, as her relationship with Seiji grows, Shizuku becomes determined to work toward a goal. Guided by the whispers of her heart and inspiration from The Baron, she resolves to carve out her own potential and dreams.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

Martin Scorsese might be right after all.

This movie had mediocrity written all over it. Ridiculous screenplay and an even more atrocious and sometimes down right annoying visual effects that made it seem more like a parody rather than an actual Marvel movie. A shadow of the franchise that held sway from 2008 to 2019.
Two hours of absolutely nothing and watching paint dry would have been a proper use of my time instead of seeing this hot mess. Dim and inconsistent dialogue and dry humour. The only little spark was Jonathan Major, who looked the part...a proper villain with his demeanor but he almost got swallowed up by the atrocious screenplay. I would have liked for this farce charade child's play to have not been his introduction.
The last straw i am giving MCU is GOTG Volume 3, if that fails too, then they are truly done and dusted.
Save your money if you haven't seen it and wait it out to be available on the high seas cuz this ain't it at all...proper gutter quality flick.🗑️🚮
Please tell me that the story is okay

Is Quantumania well written?

I know it's possible for a movie to have a good plot and get let down with mediocre directing /execution.

Is that the case with Quantumania?

I'm asking this question because the writer that worked on Quantumania is writing Avengers Kang Dynasty

The story was bland to say the least. Jeff Loveness has proved once again that Tv serial writing and Movie writing are a totally different thing all together. At one time the whole thing felt like an extended "Rick and Morty" episode.

He had so many material to work with, with Kang story line, but choose to focus more on giving Cassie Lang a somewhat origin story, except they have a plan for a "Young Avengers movie", it was totally unnecessary. I fear for Avengers: Kang Dynasty, if indeed he's writing that, because Jonathan Majors is totally Kang in every sense of it, but needs a proper screenplay to work it.

So bland story, a terrible mash up of Rick and Morty, Pandora and Star wars universe, made it all seem liked they held the writer, designers and technicians hostage in a room to just run with any wild idea they had. It made for an average at best to bad flick save for Jonathan Majors little face lift.

Actually I agree. The thought I had when I saw he name was naa this guy is too stiff to play bond.

Chris evans doesn't have the appeal to pull it off.

Luke Evans might be able to he's got the looks and smoothness.

My best bet from the list is idris Elba. He has the looks, can be suave and his voice is unique too.

Magneto lol. That would never work.

FLIGHTPLAN 5/10

A woman's daughter goes missing following the death of her husband.

Ahem! Let me start by saying this is the second time i'm seeing a jodie foster distress film. The first time was in Panic Room and i felt pity for her there. Back to the matter, her daughter goes missing and nobody noticed, including the flight attendants. No scream, no struggle. I cant believe a little gal slept all thru the film despite being in danger. Was she on sleeping pills? 67 minutes in, there's no sign of the missing gal until a love emoji restores hope. My problem with the film is there is no motif as to why the villain is doing all this to kyle. The cowardly flight attendant looked less suspicious than the arab guy. A waste of accomplice to me. The part where the pilot transfer 50m just like that is what i dont get. Also the role of the fbi was useless in this film. Apart from the colorful cinematography, nothing else.... I rest my case

I ain't got problem with the rigid talk. It was a typo. I got issues with listing all those actors as shitty. Especially Michael Fassbender, an Oscar nominee. Also lumping Idris Elba and Luke Evans in that muddle.

Luke Evans for me is the best man on that list for the James Bond role. He got the suave, look and aura of a leading man.

Babylon (2022)....... 8.5/10

After seeing this movie I'm wondering how critics and audience gave it so very low scores. The easiest answer is that they were just turned off by the _o®gy, elephant shït scene early on, grittiness and nudity. Also the edginess of the movie was it's major downfall. Guess, people don't always like movies that drifts too much in the extreme and doesn't conform with the status quo.

In some years from now, maybe 5-10 yrs, this film would become a Cult Classic and would become looked on more fondly than what it is today. It deserved better.

The entire cast delivered a superb performance especially the three main actors. It was a very gritty take on Hollywood's earliest era before the industry transitioned to "sound pictures" away from "silent films". The Cinematography was good, also noticed Damien Chazelle's love for the "whip pan" transition in between his performers and music. 😉
Robbie's performance I dare say was Oscar worthy. Same could also be said for Diego Calva.

At least, with the film earning Golden Globes nominations for Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Diego Calva, even winning Golden Globes Best Original Score. It was recognised for its quality at least, even if some critics wants to pretend otherwise. It's a long watch with a 3hr runtime, but it's worth it.

The funny thing is I was incredibly sleepy this afternoon when I wanted to watch the film due to late night browsing. I was almost sure I'd sleep and continue later. Surprised I lasted even up to an hour and still completed the film without hiccups.
That's how captivating the film was. 4+ hrs well spent.

A movie I can tell critics and audiences to go fvvk themselves. 😎 Easily one of the best movies of 2022.

Luke Evans is gay. What is he doing in that list??
So is Richard Madden (who's basically living in a glass closet now) and Pedro Pascal who's bi (also in the closet) so what's your point? It's literally called acting

Do these big movie stars actually care about the quality of the story they are working with or do they just join a project because they are getting paid? Amsterdam feels like everyone who helped make this film should have just read the script and walked. Because everything else is perfect but it's just a convoluted mess of a story.

It feels like it was written by a bunch of drunk people and they all got to contribute something different to the overall picture and then someone who is mentally ill tried to weave all their contributions together to form a single story.

To say the twist at the end was predictable is an understatement. It was already revealed in the movie before its big reveal. It gets so bad at some point you feel like the author telling the story is just making shit up as they go. The final act is solid bûllshit. This movie should have never been made. How is this comedy? There is not a single scene or a line from the dialogue that will make you laugh. You will sleep while watching this nonsense for over 2hrs.
What is going on?
Some actors don't really care about the script, they just care about the big names helming it and studios attached to it. As long as the actors gives their best with the audience saluting their performance, it's a win for them even if the movie becomes a complete flop critically and commercially

cheesy you do know what acting is right? Anyway my pick is Sam Heughan but he's passed his prime now as the producers wants someone in their 30s and I can only think of Bridgeston's Jonathan Bailey. At the same time,I kinda feel, this series has passed it's prime but it's MGM's cow milk so........

Same here. I haven't seen a "wow" moment from him so far in any of his movies. He's good but I'm hardly seeing the hype people always talk about him. I feel he's a little overhyped. Although, I'm yet to see his most acclaimed movie Call Me By Your Name" which earned him an Oscar and Golden Globes nominations.

Anyways, I look forward to his upcoming films Dune 2 and Wonka. I like him tho, but Florence Pugh is talking crap with that comparison. He's not done a quarter of what Di Caprio has performed, no offense. Pugh is just star struck and crushing on the dude.

LoL,I thought I was the only one who thinks his looks is trumping his talent but he has time to grow though, he's an industry baby. I also haven't seen Call me by your name but from the trailer, there was nothing in it for the audience to refer to him as the new Hollywood it boy IMO
