There are wild primates in the Cross River National Park in south eastern Nigeria, including the Cross River gorilla which is native to the area. There are also wild monkeys all over the south, a few crocodiles and tortoises in places like Agulu lake in Anambra State, and hippos in the rest of the Niger Delta. I don't know if they are still around (outsied of zoos and sanctuaries) but there were leopards native to the forest region in the south. Of course there are also zoos.

You can still find wild monkeys, leopards, eagles, kites, and etc. in the East.

I remember my dad going hunting and bringing back a chimpanzee, when I was a small boy.

The Black Crowned Crane is Nigeria's National Bird. The National Animal is also a bird- the Eagle. It seems Nigeria has so much love for the Avians.
