EFCC Intercepts N32.4m Allegedly Meant for Vote-buying in Lagos

The massive operation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to deter vote trading and other financial malfeasance ahead of tomorrow's presidential and national assembly elections may have begun paying dividends with the interception in Lagos of the sum of N32, 400,000 (Thirty-two Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira) allegedly suspected to be used for vote buying in Lagos. The recovery was made by operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Commission.

The suspect involved has been taken into custody for further questioning.

The Chairman of the Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa has implored all personnel of the Commission deployed for election monitoring duties to show courage and not give room for unscrupulous persons to undermine the integrity of the elections through financial inducement.

Tactical team of operatives are currently on ground in all the states of the federation and the FCT. Telephone hotlines have already been circulated through social media for members of the public to share information regarding financial malpractices with agents of the Commission. Details of the number are available on EFCC social media platforms.

Members of the public are encouraged to report anyone trying to buy or sell votes by making use of the EFCC financial crimes reporting App, Eagle Eye, which is available for download on the Google Play or Apple store. They can also reach the Commission through our social media handle, @officialefcc or by email, info@efcc.gov.ng.

Please take this money to rural communities for naira swap. I can imagine the kind of hardship those people who don't have access to banks and internet would be going through now. To make matters worse, their voices are not heard. BTW, the Druggie is a curse to this country.

This poster is using Nairaland to practice fake news blog.

Added:
Fools quote me and say EFCC does not post fake news. Una get luck say I no get time to reply una immediately.

Which party or politican planned to use the money to rig election? The same EFCC is in Lagos now but election is being messed up there.

If EFCC can publish the identities of Yahoo boys, why can't the same EFCC publish the details of the intercepted money?

The same fools calling me bad names believe EFCC sometimes label innocent young boys fraudsters. But the fools are here now claiming EFCC does not post fake news.

EFCC did not mention the party that intended to use the money. But the fools sentimentally concluded I am supporting the party that planned to use the money. Oya, since you know the party, complete the new for me and tell me the party that has the intercepted money. Is it only one party that tries to rig election in Nigeria? So, how did you know I support the one that has the money?

If you call me names but cannot answer the questions I raise here, shame on you.

Every honest person know the EFCC is not less corrupt than other government agencies. Every honest person knows the EFCC plays mind games to fool Nigerians. EFCC is reliable and politicians have been embezzling public funds. You actually deserve the kind of leaders you have always had.

Your response further shows your stupidity. How does my comment show I will believe the fake news in any region? Answer this question and use any part of my comment to justify your answer. Otherwise, remain the stupid sentimentalist you are.

Imagine selling your vote for 1k only to find out it's fake notes.

On a more serious note, this is one of the reasons the new notes is scarce.
