Nokia Changes Iconic Logo To Signal Strategy Shift by Catsofnaija(op): 8:22pm On Feb 26, 2023
BARCELONA, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Nokia (NOKIA.HE) announced plans on Sunday to change its brand identity for the first time in nearly 60 years, complete with a new logo, as the telecom equipment maker focuses on aggressive growth.

The new logo comprises five different shapes forming the word NOKIA. The iconic blue color of the old logo has been dropped for a range of colours depending on the use.

"There was the association to smartphones and nowadays we are a business technology company," Chief Executive Pekka Lundmark told Reuters in an interview.

He was speaking ahead of a business update by the company on the eve of the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) which opens in Barcelona on Monday and runs until March 2.

After taking over the top job at the struggling Finnish company in 2020, Lundmark set out a strategy with three stages: reset, accelerate and scale. With the reset stage now complete, Lundmark said the second stage is beginning.

While Nokia still aims to grow its service provider business, where it sells equipment to telecom companies, its main focus is now to sell gear to other businesses.

Nokia plans to review the growth path of its different businesses and consider alternatives, including divestment.

The last time I enjoyed a Nokia phone was when Nokia was still making symbian phones. When they migrated to windows operating system, they entered coma and when they finally migrated to Android phones, they died. With the change of icon, Nokia will become totally unrecognizable, it is better they also changed the name as wellembarassed

Not true! They are doing fantastic at the moment!

Fyi, Nokia is in charge of "powering" Samsung 5G technology!

This design is too derivative, just like the new TheVerge design. A mobile brand needs something more solid than this, but this might just grow on us

Nokia is reliable; their camera, battery, RAM, OS is reality of what they write on their specs. I am currently typing from one of their recent HMD gadget 6G RAM, 4K video camera, powered by Snapdragon, they gave Samsung their 5G licence and other collaboration.
I stand with Nokia since 2006 I used Nokia 1100 as first phone.

They wanted to build their own operating system instead of using android operating system.

As they were testing their operating system, they also have some smartphones with windows operating system, that was their downfall.

Android had a lot of apps and other smartphone companies were using it and then come flash to transfer apps, music etc especially with your cheap Techno N3 ,M3 ,P2 smartphone with just #9-#12k in Nigeria .

Lol... Nokia were left behind, they failed to follow trend, and that was their downfall.

Nokia ruled the mobile world for nearly three decades. Their quality was unsurpassed. Now every other brand has a chance to shine. I miss the company, sha, but change is imminent. I doubt they can bounce back. Apple products and services are just too good.
