Before the election, so many lawyers have argue this portion of the electoral law and the submission has always been the a candidate need to score 25% in 24 states plus 25% in FCT to be declared the winner and anything short of this will call for rerun.

So this does not need much argument as it is very clear.

That is not the position of the law Sir. It is says 25% in 36 states + FCT. Meaning if you have 25% in 23 states plus 25% in FCT you considered as 24.

So that section has been interpreted by the Supreme Court. The part b is a compound sentence that puts two-third and fct in the same bracket. Remember, the constitution says Nigeria has 36 states and FCT. It is in that same light that it referred to 2-3rd of (36 states and FCT). It does not mean (36 states) and then (FCT) . I know it is confusing but it has been taking to court and interpreted accordingly .
